I think the thing about Christmaster is that all of those things were all in Chris’s head. In the beginning, Marinette is telling him all these things that aren’t exactly true, and during his akumatization the toys and Santa all repeat these things. The Santa in that episode isn’t the real Santa, which we can tell because of the snow globe that held Chris’s Akuma, so none of any of that was actually real.

I think the episode is underrated. It's mediocre, not awful. Good parts: Chloe and Marinette forced to be nice to each other, Adrian and Santa helping each other, and Gabriel allowing the christmas party (one of his few moments being a good father) Bad parts: Some bad singing, Cat Noir cataclysming in public then detransforming in public without making sure no one's looking, Ladybug thinking Santa was akumatized

Fun Fact: This episode is actually the episode 26 of the season, and was supposed to release after Mayura, but, for some reason only god knows, they decided release this episode right after it's production was finished, even thoug almost nothing of Season 2 was done, so the next episode of season 2 only released almost one year later P.S - This decision of releasing this episode almost one year later may be because, acording to Thomas, Santa Claws is indeed a season 2 episode, but, it happens in season 1, between Kung Food and Volpina

Now we have something that breaks the "this was 1 school year" thing I know anyways it would be broke anyways by seasons 1 and 2 having points in different spots at the year, like there being more episodes (that are 100% sure to be after some in S3) than the number of days between S3 and the ending (+ the 2 week time Skip that Gabriel used to create the rings and + dearest family in january, etc) But this actually breaks how much time has passed (And I know that "now" is kinda wrong, but this is so old I never thought about it) Since this is the first Christmas without his mom, She died, at max 52 weeks before this, 1 year, and at minimum around 4 months (cause She was dead in the beginning of the school year) But ephemeral was 100 weeks after her death Technically, that by itself would not break the "1 school year" thing, cause (even it is a really bad argument) they can argue that Gabriel didn't start akumatizing people right away But if we take this Said outloud time periods, Ephemeral is between 48 and ~96 weeks after this episode. Which makes Ephemeral, at the literal minimum, 14 months after origins. So at least more than 1 full year, and of course more than a school year So even if Thomas wants to take out of his butt that in their universe that holiday in dearest family is in other month just because. This breaks the "1 school year Logic" in anyway that wouldn't involve Thomas using Gimme to make the Calendar bigger by adding months with 15 weeks

No Cristina’s song was SOO GOOD I’m literally obsessed with it. Honestly the music gets hated on so much which is understandable but I love it. Cristina has AMAZING vocals and yes while the lyrics for each song are…bad at the least, I just think it’s awesome. Like Chat Noir’s ballad about him being “cold and alone” and how he doesn’t want to be in pain is such a bop. That song and Vee’s also made my playlist at one point. It’s hilariously bad but that’s what makes it good. It gets hated for the worst reason. It’s obviously supposed to be bad. I literally have watched it every Christmas since the release 😭

They should have used the Buffy example on his musical episode and used an Akuma to make everyone sing and reveal their feelings, since everyone singing here just because it does feels weird even by the standards of the series. It's still a better Christmas special than "Christmaster". Because of the retcons, it's hard to see Grabiel here not using the rings to control his son to come home, or even really caring about him since in "Representation" (If Felix and Kagami's treatral play is true) it's hinted that the reason Grabiel is so cold and cruel to Adrien is that he blames him for leaving his wife in a coma for creating him, or letting poor people into his mansion because of how classist and snobby he will become in season 5. At least here we see, maybe for the first time, Nathalie really sad and worried about Adrien for his lonely life, something we will see more often in season 5 when it took being on the verge of death to awaken her conscience. And to see everyone, both classmates and his parents, looking for Adrien and being such good friends with him...that one wonders why Adrien was depressed about feeling so lonely and isolated in season 4 or barely interacting with them in season 5 when he started obsessing over Marinette.

The song from Santa Claws is probably my favorite song in the special. Don't get me wrong, it's not because I think it's a good song. They really should've given the song more lyrics besides the first verse. It's the goofy dance Santa does whenever he sings it that makes it enjoyable for me. It's so stupid that I find it charming.

Honestly the singing in this special never bothered me. Reason? I had to deal with terrible off key singing as a kid from the show Thomas and friends! Good fricken Christ! Those songs actually hurt my ears so much as a kid! I seriously thought they would bleed! Miraculous songs are much easier on the ears! And are actually pleasant to listen too! I still love listening to Cat Noir is alone tonight or Santa Claws.

This is how I know they didn't know what to do with Nathalie in the beginning of the series. That's why I think her redemption is so deserved. ...anyway... I actually liked this episode, pretty much, for three reasons you stated: "It's so bad, it's good." I just had fun with it. And I think Christina Vee has a fantastic singing voice...although I agree that her voice is a little mature for the character. The story was very surface level and that was...exactly what the story needed. It's not supposed to be Oscar worthy, just kind of silly. In my opinion, they nailed it. 😊
