Very attractive station. Hope I get to see it on my next visit to Southern California. I believe the Atlantic Coast Line, Seaboard Airline and Florida East Coast adopted a similar "mission" architecture on a number of stations in Florida, though I doubt any were this large.

I grew up in San Bernardino and many fond memories of the depot. One that stays with me is the whistle that the train yard operated, I'd hear it twice a day.

My dad worked in the yards as an electrian and retired from there. He talked about a woman crain opperator back when I was growing up. Can't remember her name at the moment, maybe Lucy?? We would pick up his paycheck at the opening off of 5th street. Maybe some of you remember as kids. Enjoyed this video very much

I remember picking up my grandparents from the Santa Fe depot in Colton. They used to take the train back east to visit family in Iowa. My Scout troop took a tour there when I was in 3rd grade.

I adored this look back into our recent History of passenger trains in SB. I worked on Amtrak in the 1970's and heard beloved story after story from the conductors who worked for the rail companies and the old men who's families had worked on the trains forever. It was a grand way to travel that they were so proud of. Dining onboard with white linen tablecloths and crystal glasses were elegant and still in operation in 1978. Amtrak just paid a fee to use the rails. But as fewer people rode Amtrak for business or pleasure they could not afford the fees and the much needed repairs to the rails were delayed again and again. My trips to Chicago, New Orleans and Seattle were almost always met with delays due to mud and frozen rails. Todays major derailments are a direct result of this. Splitting up the ownership of the cars and the rails was a major mistake and the federal Gov. just kept throwing money at both. Be careful who you vote for!

The Santa Fe Depot is a classic building, and probably the only thing worth visiting in the City of San Bernardino. As a sidenote, the train station scene of the movie "The Changeling" starring Angelina Jolie was filmed at the Santa Fe Depot.

Yes it was. It was also used to represent the railroad depot in Peking (now Beijing), China in the 1932 production of "Shanghai Express" starring Marlene Deitrich.
