As a native of Colorado Springs where I grew up and lived for 43 years it was great to see these videos from places i know so well and took thousands of photographs over the years. Now retired living in Spain so the memories are fond and I'm thankful to those who took the videos and for them being compiled and posted. Many thanks for the memories.

Uploaded on my 16th birthday! Lead unit at 2:02 is now part of the Royal Gorge tourist railroad here in colorado. also it was filmed on the same day as the Waco siege ending, as the compound was set on fire. Lead unit at 9:45 is the highest numbered C41-8W on BNSF. 20:27 filmed the day after the Oklahoma City bombing.

I think the BNSF scheme represents most of the merger railroads, especially H2. You have the orange for the GN, a modified ATSF herald, Grinstein green for the BN and silver for the Burlington. SP&S and NP might have some representation somewhere.

That could’ve been the Dynamics struggling to work, or that could’ve been a engine problem. Those SD45-2’s had some issues with them during their operation periods. But I think it was the SD45-2.

To be fair, the Union Pacific of today isn't the original UP. When the Rio Grande and Southern Pacific merged in 1989, they took on the Southern Pacific name. Ah, the much loved Santa Fe. We had the SP in the south and Santa Fe in the north of Arizona, my favorite railroads. I would have loved to have seen the SPSF merger. At least Santa Fe is still present in the bnSF, Southern Pacific was given a much worse fate being erased by UP.

Santa Fe and rio grande were my favorites, Burlington northern had a reason to make a merger, but southern pacific made those rio grandes dissapear. Southern pacific merged for no reason. (I think)

SP desperately needed a merger partner during the 1980s. When an attempt was made with Santa Fe, but failed, they grabbed the Rio Grande.

The Santa Fe Railway merged with the Burlington Northern to formed A Burlington Northern Santa Fe on September 21st, 1995.

That is not correct. The merger was approved on September 21st 1995. Full incorporation into the new BNSF system took around a year. By the end of 1996, BN & ATSF were no more.

I don't doubt it. I often refer to rail lines by their predecessor railroads. I think a lot of us do.

We lost all the great schemes in the 90’s mergers. Anybody wants to find hundreds of former yellow bonnets warbonnetts cascade greens vomit executives, Sp bloody noses, go to Houston, port of Houston, and the deadline Galveston loco yard. There still there. In Beaumont you will catch a cascade, a yellow bonnet and a sd60triclops in bnsf H1 all working a local most days. Ten years from now I’m sure they will be gone and it’ll be all sd70’s. Can’t stand aces and GEVoS anymore
