To all my fellow fragrance lovers : 1) what is your favourite sandalwood perfume AND/OR 2) what sandalwood dominant perfume out there do you think looks amazing?

Yess just smelled this one at Sephora yesterday. I like it a lot more than vanilla woods. It does give me a coconutty feel. Might have to get a full bottle of this one
@CharlotteRossx3 жыл бұрын
Yes it does! Very different than vanilla woods- I could see how those who really liked that one might not favour Santal vanille since they are so different and this one is definitely more sandalwood!

The santal vanille mixed with Tom Ford noir pour femme is divine! I love them separately and together!
@CharlotteRossx3 жыл бұрын
Oh, wow Andrea! I can almost "smell" it in my head 😂👌🏼 I don't have noir pour femme (yet - it's on my must buy list) but I can absolutely imagine the spicy warm myrrh and buttery sandalwood enhancing Noir pour femme - Thank you for sharing this with all of us 🤗❤️

@@CharlotteRossx of course! I wouldn’t say it’s a summer scent, but I also wouldn’t say it would be terrible if you wore it in the warmer months. However I definitely think it is a nighttime/night out scent. It’s just so cozy and sexy

Oooh this one sounds interesting! I have a small travel of Vanilla woods and live that one but I honestly don't get much woods from it (on my skin). It is almost like a straight up vanilla but I know it has other notes. I find it very comforting.
@CharlotteRossx3 жыл бұрын
I agree about not really getting woods either - and it's definitely a comforting one for the wearer and the smeller I think 😍

I just subscribed to your channel because of this review, more so because of the end of the video when you said that you liked the Blackberry Lilly which I have and love. I am looking into Santal Vanille and I figured if she likes Blackberry Lilly, then Santal Vanille might be worth another sniff.

i haven't tried santal vanille yet, but now you got me curious! i love vanilla woods, and have the perfume oil version. it's so yummy! i wonder what it'd be like if the two were layered with each other? 💕
@CharlotteRossx3 жыл бұрын
I honestly think it would be a beautiful combination *especially* if you already love Vanilla Woods and you like Sandalwood.They are definitely very different from each other (Vanilla woods is more vanilla than the other one) but that's actually also why I think they would compliment each other! The vanilla woods would surely add some depth and darkness. 😍

This sounds amazing! I would love to buy Santal Complet (sp?)but the price is prohibitive to say the least. I will be checking this one out!
@CharlotteRossx3 жыл бұрын
Yes, exactly - I think I actually even downplayed the price. And it's not one of those luxury perfumes like xerjoff where the performance is just nuclear either. Beautiful and high quality, but prohibitive for most of us like you say. It's BY NO MEANS A DUPE but I think Santal Vanille is a very good alternative for Sandalwood lovers!
@CloudofLis3 жыл бұрын
I looove vanilla (obviously 🤪) but not sure yet about sandalwood, depends on the notes its combined with, it can get a bit plasticy which I don't like. Ty for the video! 💕
@CharlotteRossx3 жыл бұрын
Definitely understand what you mean! I love it, but I have found that there are an equal amount of people who don't love that sandalwood note. It's definitely sandalwood dominant which makes it a NEED to sample first for anyone who's on the fence about it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts Lisa! 💕

Vanilla 28 is steadily climbing my want list. 😂 I don't think I have a sandalwood to recommend to you. I think it's an underappreciated note. It seems hard to do a good, reasonably priced sandalwood perfume, unless I've missed something?
@CharlotteRossx3 жыл бұрын
I agree - I mean, it's in a lot of fragrances as a base note but a true sandalwood heavy or dominant fragrance is harder to find in the more affordable or mainstream range, I agree. My little Kayali Vanilla 28 decant will definitely get used up!

Do you know how this compares to Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black??
@CharlotteRossx3 жыл бұрын
Hi Molly 😊 As soon as I saw your comment I went digging for my little rollerball of Nirvana Black! Nirvana has a slight floral (violets) edge to it that the Santal Vanille doesn't have - Nirvana Black is a lot softer and even right here as I type - my right hand is super oily and shiny (7 virtues) and on the left (Nirvana Black) there's barely a sheen. 7 virtues is a lot more potent which doesn't surprise me since they say they use 22-30 % fragrance oils in their perfumes (edp concentration is usually no more than 15-20%). Santal Vanille is also spicier and a lot warmer. Nirvana Black has that cold feeling to it like Versace Crystal Noir IMO. I like them both - but I think I prefer Santal Vanille. I hope that helped a little - Thank you so much for your question Molly! Had I thought of it I would have included the comparison in the video. ❤️
@mollyskye32163 жыл бұрын
@@CharlotteRossx wow thank you so much for your detailed comparison! It sounds like Santal Vanille might be similar to Black Flower Mexican Vanilla by Dame Perfumery, have you by chance tried that one? It's niche but pretty popular on Fragrantica. Sorry for asking so many questions hahah I'm just deciding if I should order Santal Vanille during the Sephora sale
@CharlotteRossx3 жыл бұрын
Hi Molly, don’t be sorry! You ask great questions ♥️ I have NOT tried that perfume and didn’t know about it either but after looking it up on Fragrantica I saw 👀 the notes and the “this reminds me of” and I have l by Lolita which is listed first in there. That’s one of my all time favourites so black flower Mexican vanilla I’m sure is very good - but it’s also probably more gourmands whereas santal vanille i don’t find gourmand. Both really nice but not sure they would be similar (if you were looking for that). I hope that helps. Let me know if you do get it or smell it! Would love to hear your take.
@CharlotteRossx3 жыл бұрын
(Like between the two I still think nirvana black would be more similar than the other one you mentioned) I hope that makes sense!

Does santal vanille smell like philosophy fresh cream warm cashmere?
@CharlotteRossx3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jyothsna! I have not smelled fresh cream ( I *clearly* have to though because it keeps getting mentioned and the notes look exactly like my kind of fragrance!) but I don't think it would just because Santal Vanille has that dry spiciness from the Myrrh and has more of a buttery feeling to it than a creamy one - Fresh cream sounds a lot more fruity creamy sweet and lactonic to me. You might still like it but I would say brace yourself for some warm spice and a buttery sandalwood. I hope that helps! ETA: I'm so sorry I just now realised warm cashmere is a different flanker of fresh cream! That one does sound A LOT more similar to Santal Vanille than the other one - I would say, again, the myrrh is what might make it quite different. 🤗

@@CharlotteRossx alright ty! N that’s ok bc I actually like spicy fragrances lol
