Huh? what do you mean this album? this show is from 1987 (the date in the title is wrong), but it was never released as an official album. This was the supporting tour for the 1987 album "Freedom". Samba Pa Ti came out way back in 1970 on the Abraxas album. Unless you mean the live version here in this show?

Buddy Miles was a great drummer but this was the first time I ever saw him play the guitar. He was left handed and if you look closely you'll see that he was playing a regular right handed guitar strung for right hand playing yet being left handed he was playing it in reverse with the strings upside down. Amazing. You have to be thinking in reverse to play like that. Lol!!!

My cousin was in Buddy's band in the mid to late 1980's and when they toured Northern California I went with them. Buddy would do a bit where he would get out from behind the drums, grab his guitar then solo for about 20 minutes. It was a bit long :) My cousin just did a tribute to Buddy with Joe Bonamassa on the vocals and guitar, Simon Philips on drums and Ernest Tibbs on bass playing Them Changes

Great to finally see a solo performance of the great Alphonso Johnson . If there was ever an unsung bass talent, this man is it. Great musician and educator. Santana had some great Bass players, Myron Dove, Benny Reitveld and of course the great Dave Brown , but man, Alphonso set Santana on fire too.

I totally agree with you, I did not know that Buddy is such a talented musician. His guitar skill is comparable to Carlos. I heard he played drums and his vocals is very strong powerful. One of the most underrated musician of all times. I think is one of the best concerts of Santana on youtube. Lately I saw his concerts, but he lacked the enthusiasm and energy like he did in this concert, a bit lethargic because he is getting older. Buddy Miles and Carlos are the best combinations of all times like a DYNAMITE or FIREWORKS that never ceases. AMIN.

@budiwidjaja24785 жыл бұрын
during Woodstock Carlos was still a novice on the guitar, he was only 22. At this concert he reached the pinnacle of his guitar skills with much better improvisations and way better techniques. lately I saw him live at Casino Rama Canada, however his performance was so so , as a matter of fact I was a bit sleepy because he lacked energy.
