Day On the Green, 7/2/1977, as I entered the concert, I heard the Opening Bands......Carlos Santana playing Moon Flower album. WOW! Then Peter Frampton's powerful performance (One to remember) ....then the Ticket Featured: "Lynyrd Skynyrd." You know....it doesn't get any better. Still have my ticket stub....I was 17. __AMERICA__!

Montrose cancelled, so Carlos had a 3 hour show that blew my mind as a 17 year old. Los Angeles in 1977. LOL you just can't come close today. Everyone was smoking, drinking and snorting openly. yes bellbrass that is definately the ''arm-speed'' specialist Graham Lear himself (from an endurance standpoint Lear could play at machine gun speed and keep that shit up 15 or 30 seconds longer than the other pros of equal drumming caliber) oh ... Drummerworld, for some reason ... WILL NOT let Lear in the ''door'' ... yet they WILL in iclude a long list of standard drummers like Phil Rudd and hundreds of others ... but not Graham himself ***** ''DIE DRUMMERWORLD DIE''!

For me this lineup will definitely the best Santana period. Tom Coster is a God and allowed Carlos reaching the top. But Gregg Rollie was also fantastic and important for Carlos career. He could stay along Tom Coster ! Lear , perazza, Raul , Pete escovedo whom his daughter Sheila E. appears in this video, Orestes vilato later formed dream team with Dave Margen ( best bassist) and Greg Walker... one could just add Alex Ligertwood and Neal Schon to create the ultimate lineup ! Carlos did it in 85 but they weren't as happy as the 70... So I think this moonflower period remain the best for Carlos. He lost his famous sound shortly after, when he left his famous Yamaha SG 3000 for insipid prs and dumble amps... and when he left Tom Coster...

Sheila E's father is Pete Escovedo who was a member of Santana for a long time (who is also Nicole Ritchies father so that makes them sisters !! ).....Carlos's wife was standing to the right of the stage next to Bill Graham...... so I dont know how she only just found out he had a wife as she would have grown up with the band....she isnt that old here !!.....by the way SKYNYRD tore the whole joint up and ripped the crowd a new arsehole !!

It’s stunning how much Graham Lear and Michael Shrieve look alike. I looked at both of their photos from the ‘70s online and it’s uncanny. I was there that day - blown away at 14 years of age!

Bass Player is higher than a kite, Carlos still stuck in hi Mahavishnu McLaughlin mindset, No lead Singer, Carlos was probably higher than a kite by trying to be the singer. Lots of acid.
