1972 I was 12 and sitting on the sidewalk in downtown Vancouver BC listening to my friend play black magic woman when a group of guys walked up and listen to him play they looked familiar but I wasn't sure so I said nothing. at the end of the song one of the guys reached into his pocket I thought for some change to give my friend but to my surprise, he pulled out two tickets and said sounds pretty good come listen to me play it tonight. It was Carlos Santana I was blown away my first concert and invited by the artist himself. Needless to say, the concert was fantastic, every time I hear Santana I remember that day

The best concert in my nearly 63 years was the santana concert im hallenstadion in örlikon, zürich. Schweiz. It makes you feel goooood. Goood night to every human beeing.

When I was a maintenance manager in an apartment complex I used to work at. I would set up my bug system at the pool on Saturday afternoons. We would bring in a food truck, and rock till the cops came. When I put Santana on it raised the blood pressure to ridiculous levels. I'd sprinkle in Led Zeppelin, some Yes, and as many classics as there was time for. I had 500 watts playing off the side wall of the office, it was magical. We always pushed the number of people allowed inside the fence. Some would bring thier lawn chairs and sit along the fence, drink beer and take shots and just enjoy the music. It was so much fun.

It wasn't Carlos,, it was sex. But; long may you live and,, long may you run. I get it. And by the way. Alot of this mans beautiful work came from latino music already written, recorded long before I was born in 1956. He made it what it SHOULD HAVE ALWAYS BEEN! One more thing,,, try as one might to divide,, we're all connected. There is NO real bias, but what one convinces itself to believe with lie's of betrayal to one's self. No greater, no lesser.

I'm really happy guys like Carlos Santana came along. Superior talent(s) who KNOW how to do a song right, and that includes assembling a group who can help create the overall sound. I say that this is a complex fusion of Latin , Rock, & Jazz; and God knows what else I just don't recognize. I am not forgetting the ladies at all --just talking' Carlos S. here. If I had to listen to Pat Boone records like my sister, I'd be in the looney bin now. Music like this, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, was just made to help uptight white boys loosen up. I'll never forget hearing Carlos Santana in concert.

Ive seen Carlos at 3 dif concerts 70s 80s in the 90s I lived in S.F. cal. My girl ate out at least 3 times a week. There was this little equadorian restraunt we went once a week. The let us eat with them. Onece when I asked forbthe check the owners wife brought over a bottle of wine over and a small desert. She smiled and said you are having desert tonight here!! about 5 to 10 minutes the wait staff moved some tables and who comes out carlos and his brother and another band member Carlos played 5 or 6 cuts including these 3. What a fantastic treat

1969 or 2019, one of the most easily recognizable signature guitar sounds ever ! He can play 2 notes of a song you never heard & you know it's Carlos instantly !

The Secret Carlos Santana Chord Progression, his style has been called.
@j.rollinsbrunson36715 жыл бұрын
@@Mister_Pedantic I like that ! For me, it's more the unique tone of his instrument/amp set up, & the way he strikes & holds the notes that make his music instantly recognizable.

@@j.rollinsbrunson3671 I like Carlos but I can't disagree with those who say he's been dining out on that guitar solo for 50 years now.
@j.rollinsbrunson36715 жыл бұрын
@@Mister_Pedantic I'm not sure what that has to do with his sound being instantly recognizable, which was my only point. I'm curious, do you think they mean that one solo made him millions, & everything else was gravy ? Or do you think they mean that solo is all he's got & he's been riding that for 50 years ?

It was 1975 at the Civic Coliseum in Knoxville Tennessee. Santana opened for Eric Clapton. It was amazing. Santana brought down the house. Then, Clapton brought down the house. Clapton did an encore and the venue started turning lights on and saying drive safely. I stood up and started yelling Duet-Duet just over and over. The folks around me and then our entire section, the section next, and on around until the entire place was yelling Duet-Duet over and over. After a while the lights went out, and you could see Santana walking back on stage with his little amp and his guitar. I do not recall the song they played but , it was unbelievable. One would rip out a riff and the other would play it back at him. They dueled it out for a good while. I probably went to hundreds of concerts or more in those decades, that one will always be one of the most memorable. Peace!

Santana is "Top Shelf", a major influence as to why the 1970s will always be the GREATEST music decade, when all the genres came together to become what we know as 'classic rock'. We live in a different world now, but they can never take this away from us .......... I just feel bad for those who have never be been exposed.
