It is a shame that the producers of Glee didn't let Naya Rivera shine the way she should here. I love this song, and think Naya has such a beautiful voice. Neither she nor the song need any embellishments to show vocal range. One of the most beautiful things about this song is that it's simple and each single note has power. While it's nice to hear Naya sing it, the note changes the producers put in take away from its beauty. All it really needed was perfectly held notes from her great voice.

This is 8 years old (omg 2012) but I want to respond to it anyways. This is exactly what I always think about her voice - it is so special because somehow it is so soft and clear but it manages to be so powerful (like in Mine for exampla) WHILE still being soft. I've never heard that before. Many voices are beautiful and people can hit notes and belt and so on but this is a quality that is so rare. I only just realized all my favourite Glee songs where sung mostly by her because I listened to them blindly before. Not to mention that Naya Rivera also manages a way of acting that also seems exceptional to me (now I started watching it) as she seems to become Santana, mainly or especially in the way she looks at people and holds eye contact. It feels incredibly authentic and is much above this kind of stereotypical TV show kind of acting that you often see in other actors/actresses. She really seemed one of a kind to me.

What makes this performance so achingly beautiful isn't only Santana's passion and gorgeous voice, but Brittany's innocence. She doesn't see any of the reasons they can't be together.
