Dave is literally on a different level to everyone else. His dialogue on the Black experience in the UK, and the way he tells it is unmatched. It's poetry and prose and his voice is so identifiable and clear that you don't feel like you're listening to a rapper, you feel like you're listening to a young Black man pouring his heart and soul out to you. His choice of music to back his vocals is outstanding. I don't love every song he does, but especially between his Brits performance of Black and this, he's standing out. Personally I think the only rapper close to his level when it comes to this is Stormzy with Rainfall, Crown, Superheroes etc. I'd love to see the two of them collab on a song about the Black experience like this and Black. Would be amazing.

I appreciate every lesson I take from music, and every feeling it gives me, but gotta admit it gives an extra joy to see guys my age thinking and acting the way he does. "being from a dumb generation" screams ignorance, your lack of awareness is palpable
@DarkForceUbz2 жыл бұрын
@@JL2670yo LOL lack of awareness? Am I really the one unaware? It's funny how being open-eyed or different nowadays is uncomprehensible mostly, not to mention the deeper you go the less most understand. It's tiring to keep saying shxt people don't (want to) see. It's easier to be selfish, egocentriccal and to live like most do, in bliss when it comes to deeper thoughts and problems, that itself is a proof of the lack of usage of intelligence. Social media removes IQ, not to mention the amount of entitlement it gives to people that barely do the effort of thinking, being used to follow and easily molded by what surrounds them. With all the progresses, the age we're at, the state of shxt, and our actions, where can I say we ain't a dumb generation? How many Daves do you see in music, and how many follow trends just to cash out? There's examples of lack of progress everywhere, specially socially/psychologically. The more I think about it the more I could say honestly, I know it seems like I'm a negative guy, but that ain't really it, I just point out the negatives where I think most fail to see it.

I don’t think i’ve ever seen an artist as talented as Dave, lyrics incredible but also the way he picked up the acoustic and electric guitar (which he only started learning 4 months ago) and Piano as usual and made an incredible performance. Can’t wait to see him live this summer
@davidburke21322 жыл бұрын
Not having a go at Dave but if you’re judging your artists by their ability to write lyrics and play multiple instruments I think you need to expand your musical horizons somewhat… there are literally hundreds of them over the course or pop, rock, blues, etc. history who were/are multi-skilled like this (or better… at least as instrumentalists).
@oisinnoonan33492 жыл бұрын
@@davidburke2132 He’s my favourite artist that’s obviously not what i’m judging it off because I love his music to listen too. I’m saying it’s very impressive to even have the confidence to play an instrument live which you’ve only been playing for a few months, i’m saying this as someone who plays 3 instruments so i know what it’s like
@davidburke21322 жыл бұрын
@@oisinnoonan3349 fair point, and if he’d really never picked up a guitar before 4 months ago his development is impressive. However, a little objectivity would probably not go amiss amongst his legion of fans - that guitar solo wasn’t up to standard and those who say it was great, or even good, are being blinded by their love for the guy and his music. I applaud him for trying given his lack of experience, but he should have let his pro guitarist handle it. His bends in particular were consistently off pitch. Sorry, not trying to hate on the guy.
