I don't know if people will see this. I'm a 35 year old chef. I love what I do but my job is incredibly high pressure. Lots of decisions, lots of responsibilities, just lots... but I love it, it's a weird relationship, really. I've had quite a month of recipe development and I'm a wreck. This song came up at random and it just hit me in the feels and started tearing up. I've never heard of this song or Santigold for that matter. I've been struggling with depression my whole life and the lyrics "we set our dreams to carry us and if they don't fly, we will run" rang really true in my head. Just wanted to share this, maybe someone will get it. Love y'all.

this has to be one of the most overlooked songs of the past few years, i mean it holds a higher standard musically AND lyrically, then again santigold seems to be a name that just doesnt exactly get out to people and become popular itself even if she creates great music that hits the radio, it doesnt seem to stick with the general people for some reason. shes unique and has made great music for years and deserves a little more recognition i think.
@fearlessclanyt9 жыл бұрын
***** well indie doesnt mean hipster, an example of that would be the yeah yeah yeahs first album was indie but not exactly hipster as much as just urban people enjoyed it but ya i know what you mean. and no it is DEFINITELY not indie, its also not pop, i would say its extremely alt. but her older stuff wasnt like this. it was definitely more just plain rock or alt rock. had much stronger indie vibes.

Lyrics: “Don't look ahead, there's stormy weather Another roadblock in our way But if we go, we go together Our hands are tied here if we stay Oh, we said our dreams will carry us And if they don't fly we will run Now we push right past to find out Oh, how to win what they all lost Oh ah, oh ah We know now we want more Oh ah, oh ah A life worth fighting for Oh ah, oh ah We know that we want more Oh ah, oh ah A life worth fighting for So let them say we can't do better Lay out the rules that we can't break They wanna sit and watch it wither Their legacy's too hard to take Oh, we said our dreams will carry us And if they don't fly we will run Now we push right past to find out Oh, how to win what they all lost Oh ah, oh ah We know now we want more Oh ah, oh ah A life worth fighting for Oh ah, oh ah We know that we want more Oh ah, oh ah A life worth fighting for In their heads, hedging their bets In their eyes it shows When the beacon breaks, what then? You ask and they don't know Oh tell me that I turn my back well the odds all stand beneath me And they all said I was misled But now the odds all stand beneath me Oh ah, oh ah They're frozen to the core Oh ah, oh ah A life worth fighting for Oh, we said our dreams will carry us And if they don't fly we will run Now we push right past to find out Oh, how to win what they all lost Oh ah, oh ah We know now we want more Oh ah, oh ah A life worth fighting for Oh ah, oh ah We know that we want more Oh ah, oh ah A life worth fighting for We hear them run, but don't hear what you say Now here we come, can't throw nothing in our way We hear them run, but don't hear what you say Now here we come, can't throw nothing in our way”

The song doesn't have the words "Tonight" or "Club" in the lyrics so it's not much of an early 2010s song

Don’t look ahead there’s stormy weather Another road block in our way But if we go, we go together Our hands are tied here if we stay Oh, we said our dreams will carry us And if they don’t fly we will run Now we push right past to find out How to win what they all lost Oh-ah, Oh-ah We know now we want more Oh-ah, Oh-ah A life worth fighting for Oh-ah, Oh-ah We know that we want more Oh-ah, Oh-ah A life worth fighting for So let them say we can’t do better Lay out the rules that we can’t break They want to sit and watch it wither Their legacy’s too hard to take Oh, we said our dreams will carry us And if they don’t fly we will run Now we push right past to find out How to win what they all lost You might also like ME TENGO QUE IR KAROL G & Kali Uchis This Isn’t Our Parade Santigold Try That In A Small Town Jason Aldean Oh-ah, Oh-ah We know now we want more Oh-ah, Oh-ah A life worth fighting for Oh-ah, Oh-ah We know that we want more Oh-ah, Oh-ah A life worth fighting for In their heads, hedging their bets, in their Eyes it shows When the beacon breaks, what then You ask they don’t know Oh tell me that I turn my back, well the Odds all stand beneath me And they all said I was misled, but now The odds all stand beneath me Oh-ah, Oh-ah They’re frozen to the core Oh-ah, Oh-ah A life worth fighting for Oh, we said our dreams will carry us And if they don’t fly we will run Now we push right past to find out How to win what they all lost Oh-ah, Oh-ah We know now we want more Oh-ah, Oh-ah A life worth fighting for Oh-ah, Oh-ah We know that we want more Oh-ah, Oh-ah A life worth fighting for We hear that rumble Don’t hear what you say Now here we come Can’t throw nothing in our way Ay-yo

I knew Santigold since that Euphoria episode when they do roller skate. I was 19 years old living in Indonesia and I didn't search for any song of her really I just played Run The Road and that's it. Then, this song played a week ago from my spotify shuffle. I'm starting my life in Switzerland at age 26 with my husband and this song resonates with me so much to an extend I'm afraid of the lyrics. But it set me free somehow... I couldn't express it really. "Oh, we said our dreams will carry us And if they don't fly, we will run Now we push right past to find out Oh, how to win what they all lost" Just keep rolling... it will make sense someday (I hope)

I needed this song right now!! Just recently coming to the realization that not everyone has the soul wrenching battles with themselves that some of us do… that life isn’t as emotionally difficult and destructive for them and that they just won’t ever “get “ people like us… that we are “too much” or dramatic, or just too fucked in the head to be taken seriously… but they don’t realize the battles we have won, the grit and determination we have dug from the depths of ourselves when we had nothing left and almost gave up… like so many of us already have… it kills me when a lightbringer and Hope clinger finally gives up.. I get it, I’ve been there and that’s why I fight so damn hard to heal others and use my last bit of spark to share with them… yeah sometimes they take it and snuff it out, then steal our last glimmers… but we would have given it to them, they didn’t have to steal it… but it wrecks us that they did, then they move on to another of us and crush their spirit… it’s a sick cycle of cruelty and death vs life…. Being heard, appreciated, treated kindly matters!! Sometimes we don’t reap the rewards we’ve sown and that’s hard, results are black and white proof to keep going… we run on HOPE!! Don’t ever let anyone snuff your flame 🔥 Burn bright you beautiful magical creature… you are NOT like the rest, you are special ❤❤❤ bout time we open our eyes and see our hearts reflected back at ourselves for a change ❤Thanks for bringing me back to try again 🔥 And still I rise …. 🔥✨🔥
