Your film of Santo Antao makes you want to explore this island on hiking trails. Unfortunately, I'm not so good on foot anymore, but I love the mountains and used to be out and about in the mountains a lot myself. These mountains would certainly have been my highlights. I was on Santo Antao in April of this year, unfortunately only for one day. But it was long enough to confirm your impressions. We arrived by ferry from Sao Vicente and took a bus tour from Porto Novo to Paùl and Ponta de Sol. Then we went back from Ribeira Grande via the spectacular Delgadinho road and the Cova de Paul volcanic crater back to our ferry. An absolutely beautiful day and a beautiful island. Oh yes, in the Paul Valley we went on a one-and-a-half-hour walk. Of course, the path was not quite as spectacular as the paths in the film, but exhausting enough and full of impressions to put us in your film. What I want to say is that everyone who likes your film and would like to visit this island, but is afraid of going on such big tours, the island can also be explored very well with less effort and there are still enough impressions. J ai fait Santiago de long en large et sans atteindre la beauté et le côté sauvage de Sao Antao cette île est sympa aussi . J y retournerais aussi pour Fogo. Mon mode de déplacement diffère un peu du votre je suis plus marche -course avec sav à dos.

Hello, merci beaucoup ! Je suis parvenu à réaliser cet itinéraire en 6 jours en planifiant en avance. Tous les hébergements ont été réservés en avance car l’offre n’est pas pléthorique sur l’île. Particulièrement pour Questel BronQ, il y a très peu de chambres donc il faut s’assurer de booker en avance ce spot absolument incroyable.

We have 30 days for a trip and would like to combine it with another destination in Western Africa. How long do you think we should dedicate to Cape Verde? And do you recommend dedicating the whole time there to trekking and hiking? Or are there any other must see/do attractions

Hi, thanks for your question! It really depends on you. Cape Verde is made of 10 main islands so you can easily spend one month and a half exploring all of them :). If you want to target only a few islands it then again depends on which ones. You can see all of Sal in 2 days but you’ll need one full week for all the iconic hikes of Santo Antao for example. Thanks for your comment! I went to Tarrafal in a taxi. You can drive there from Porto Novo yes. The roads are ok except for the very last part which is a dirt road. Rent a 4x4 or at least a SUV. Bumpy roads.

Pour le prix du retour, les pêcheurs vont vous annoncer un prix de 4000 Escudos que vous pourrez négocier à la baisse.
