I fell in love this neighborhood on my trip there a few days ago. Not knowing I used to play ⚾️ close buy in “CENTRO OLÍMPICO”way back in 1991 as a kid while there from NYC 🗽 for the summer. It’s close to fine dining,a train 🚉 station which is part of the new metro rail system of Santo Domingo. A great cigar lounge,and mall also dot this iconic neighborhood. It almost feels like you’re not in a third world country.Would not mind having a condominium here that’s for sure(Not a goal,just a desire lol).And to think that I have been told that there are even more desirable neighborhoods such as cazicazgos, and piantini in SANTO DOMINGO??? Hard to believe,but what do I know lol. GOD willing,I will see for myself on my next trip to this historic city 🙏🏾

I left my beautiful DR over 50 years ago and it is amazing how the capital have changed. It looks so beautiful, large and modern. Now what needs to be changed is the insecurity that the drugs, the assaults, the thefts have created. Most be brought back to the peaceful paradise that it once was.

Wow. I wonder what living in such a peaceful and laid-back environment must have been like. I never experienced it.

@@franknunez from what my mother tells me Santo Domingo used to be pretty safe back in the 70s when she was young. "me and my friends used to walk home alone at night after a night of dancing and nothing ever happened to us".

Seems like a car is needed in these areas?
@franknunez2 жыл бұрын
Not really. Public transportation is readily available all over the place here, but at the moment this comment is being posted, apart from the areas near the three metro stations that are located in this neighborhood, Public transportation is of poor quality. Fortunately is getting better with the gradual upgrading of buses and reconfiguration of lines and stops that is going on.

Where are the upscale neighborhoods..if you compare it with Haiti..Yes..but if you compare it with Miami...its a dump.
@franknunez3 жыл бұрын
That is an unfair comparison. Even first world European cities cannot compete with Miami. 90% of cities in the US itself can't come close. That's probably the dumbest thing I've heard in months hahaha.
