Naco stands out as one of the premier neighborhoods in Santo Domingo, offering a blend of modernity, convenience, and elegance. Renowned for its high-end residential buildings, upscale dining options, and vibrant commercial centers, Naco caters to both the affluent residents and discerning visitors. The neighborhood is strategically located, providing easy access to key areas of the city, including business districts and recreational zones. Naco's well-maintained parks add a touch of greenery and provide serene spaces for relaxation. Additionally, its robust security measures and clean, well-lit streets contribute to a safe and welcoming atmosphere, making Naco a highly desirable place to live and visit in Santo Domingo.

We gotta do something about them cables on the streets; they make those nice areas look really bad; I heard the Mayor has an ambitious plan to place them underground, especially in the Piantini and Naco areas, but it comes at a huge cost; hundreds of millions of dollars, but it can be done; all it takes is the will power, bc the resources are there. Great video, man, as always. Take care.

When I was editing the video I noticed it too. I notice it all the time but living here you see it so much it's doesn't standout as much to me now. But I knew someone would see as it did stand out while I was editing.

It is in agenda for the whole city but the cost is the same as paying for 3 new lines for the city metro. Not happening any time soon. As far as I know, they will go on with certain areas (Naco included) but not the whole city yet. They already started with the Zona Colonial (the historic center) where all cables are underground and the difference is impressive.

Piece of advice... It´s safer to walk with your camera or phone in the mains streets, specially in Naco (Tiradentes or Ortega&Gasset Avenue). Since there is more movement usually they won't mog you there. Now, walking on those lonely streets makes you an easy target.

Great video. Thanks for it. But like you asked I’ll tell you what I think. It appears walking outside it not promoted. Meaning there is no reason to walk outside because there is nothing but buildings, narrow streets, narrow sidewalks, massive traffic, no local stores easily walking distance. It seems everyone is stuck in their apartments or driving outside. The park looked lonely but you did say it was Election Day. Idk brother. I know you’re from Ft. Lauderdale so you know how this compares to the walk by downtown Dr Lauderdale. The streets are wider and more local places that encourages people to walk outside. Midtown, brickell, people stay outside walking. To me it’s not just about creating buildings. Gotta add value to the buildings by have a great first floor experience. Even NY they got bodegas and stuff outside. Again great video brother. I seen your eyes looking in all corners those are NY eyes watch every corner I’m familiar with that. Keep pushing content.

So let's say backpack with the Macbook to coffee shops daily to work - I'm going to get robbed if I do that for a few months? Have to take a taxi every time? Thoughts? (Would kind of kill my interest in living there :( I had not walking.)
@JayAbroad
@JayAbroad Ай бұрын
Brother, walking with a backpack is very different than walking around vlogging with a camera. I see so many people walking with backpacks. I hope I didn't give that impression that its like that. I don't feel my life is in danger when I walk the streets here. I feel completely safe everywhere I go.

@drkid4l220 Ай бұрын
A lot of the time when you get robbed in the high end areas, it's because they've been checking you out for a minute, to see how you move, who you are, and what you normally wear and where you live, etc. I mean, I'm not saying that someone wouldn't just randomly roll up on you, and it's always best to be safe, because I'm the same way, but I do think it's still that US mentality that's still ingrained within our system and the motor bikers that make it feel like it's unsafe. The reason why I say this, is because you can clearly see the amount of wealth there is in these areas, criminals aren't just rolling around everywhere, because these are secure areas of city.

Naco, Gazcue, Piantini, Los Prados, Las Praderas, San Geronimo those are neighborhood of Upper Middle Class to Rich people in DR. I'm glad those are mostly occupied by Dominicans and not foreigners don't get me wrong everybody is welcome! just glad that gentrification hasn't kicked in yet like in other places like the US where locals get pushed out from people from other states with higher incomes.

Dominican Republic needs to be totally US territory the beaches are beautiful there So they can make money for the country To broaden the horizons is a beautiful thing Experiencing the culture as a whole more people will come it's a lot cheaper than the US Holding All-star games in the Dominican Republic including Mega concerts is a plus NFL Superbowl games maybe Play offs in a Neutral field would do some good I know these NFL teams are tired of Playing in these cold climate conditions So is the NBA cost would be cheaper and There would be plenty to do Recreation Recreation Recreation Even College Football would be nice Paying over 500.00 for a nose bleed seat at a Alabama game is ridiculous
