Truly a gem of his own kind. He is an exemplary cinematographer. It is a magic on screen when Maniratnam sir and Santhosh Sivan sir collaborate. The best thing about these gems is that they are curious to learn things even after having achieved milestones in their respective fields. You are an inspiration sir. Grear respect 🙏📽️🎬📸🎞️📷

Here is a master talking about moving away from system and methods to create appealing visuals, and sadly people are finding it hard to understand and criticising the interviewer for not making it look like a class! :/ Yeah, he is talking about his experiences and that along with his films alone is the best masterclass, goddammit!

Shoes walking through trees, sees a woman in a distance, the man reaches the woman, she screams and turns around, and then she comes forward and rests on his chest, then he pats her head, and says, it's done let's move on, they walk with her resting her head on his shoulders, they move forward as they walk forward they start turning into dust and fate away in the wind, as they move forward the camera rises up to show a mountain, and the title comes up, the blood thirsty mountain, As the camera moves forward the mountain opens bloody red eyes. The scene shows a car riding up the highway with the mountain in sight The heroine is driving and the hero is eating an apple and having a smoke. He tells her, I didn't know we will! Make it. She holds his hand and says, it's your dream. The camera shows a house they hero and heroine are playing with their daughter. This story will go on, if you comment continue.

*Santosh Sivan has mentioned before that he does run of the mill potboiler action thrillers of Murugadoss and others of the same ilk to provide him with enough funds to shoot his personal projects. I understand that but the fanboy in me sincerely hopes he would stop agreeing to those mass masala flicks henceforth coz it's not helping his filmography in any way rather on the contrary. We can see he is sleepwalking through those movies and these directors call him to add in a big name in the crew list and that's it. Genres doesn't matter and shouldn't as well but these "mass" directors mostly don't have an aesthetic sense and they completely rely on the mass hero and concentrate more on building his persona while the look and feel of the movie take a backseat. Hope Santosh Sir has made enough money to say a firm NO to movies that dont help in bringing out the best in him.*
