While watching this lecture I went back and watched Chaiyan chaiyan on youtube, thatt scene where the camera goes with SRK into the tunnel - and they go into red lighting inside the tunnel and emerge back into daylight - it's still magic, like I can't wrap my head around the lighting, camera and coordination required for that, it still gives me goosebumps.

He is an inspiration to many of us. I was fortunate enough to get a workshop with him in my film School days and he told some of us that "Cinematography is not rocket science" and he also told us a very simple thing that " light travels straight". His words have always been with me and he was the first mentor to take out our fears about cinematography. Thank you Santosh Sir. You are a legend!

I didn't know much about Cinematography, still don't, but there was a time when I could look at a random frame, specifically at (how the light reflects off) the hair of someone in the frame, and identify the cinematographer to be Santosh Sivan (or not)
