Maul defence is an area small teams always struggle with, expecially at international level.

I think they should just have their tallest jumper jump/lifted at the front and at least pressure the throw.the others in the lineout can focus on sacking the maul being formed.

Moana-Pasifika. So good to see the islands get a chance to develop, but unfortunately the whipping boys of the competition. Credit though for getting up each match and putting the effort in no matter the turnaround time. Good on ya fellas. Oh boy though. The rules of the game. It's turning into a kick upfield and then the heaviest squad to force a maul. Not what I want to see. Perhaps it's time to become stricter on a maul being formed, requiring more than 3 players, along with removing the multiple phases to create a new maul splitting off sideways when forward motion is stopped. It'll help but tall heavy teams will still be automatically in the advantage as Hurricanes demonstrated 5m from the line.

It is only a maul if someone from the defending team engages....until then they can tackle the ball carrier from any angle.....and the new pre latching rule means the attacking team can be penalized of too many player are pre-bound.....solution-don't engage the maul.....NZ teams haven't seemed to be able to work this out yet

Heads up Moana Pasifika the short turn rounds are big ask in super rugby competition. The only positives from this we are going to be better for the future. So the Aussie teams will never win against the kiwi teams that's for sure

We should put you guy's up in the capital (Wellington) or in Nelson. Moana have been waiting for their opportunity to play in super rugby for years. They deserve to be there, the pacific nations have given many of their sons to NZ and Aus. Now is their chance to help develop our smaller pacific nations. Also Auckland is home to many Polynesians so it's placement for Moana is perfect.

A law that is never enforced is Law 18.22. In almost all games at the line-out throw the hooker is not outside the field of play, part of his boots are over the line. Look at the lineout around 3:30. This should result in an opposition line-out or scrum.

7's and league are for you.....mauls have always been part of union......some people see it as way a well coordinated team can get advantage over a team of flashier backs ...an alternative way to score points ..you may as well moan about the ball not being round enough

The game is about competing for possession then creating space and using handling skills to achieve that. I think you might prefer MMA. Don't ever mention that round ball game in this forum either.

They need to do away with race based rugby teams. Not because i have a problem with it but because too many feelings get hurt when those teams get beaten, and when that happens everything becomes about race rather than the game of rugby. I personally support Moana Pasifika and Fiji Drua believing NZ owes a debt of gratitude to the contribution the players from the Pacific Islands have made but once certain people start nitpicking on how a game is being played it's an obvious tell that some people aren't capable of taking a loss. The amount of vile things I've read previously is absolutely unacceptable in 2022.

Dura are a Fijian based pro team (although they are currently playing home games in aus for covid reasons) Moana Pacifika are a NZ professional team (partially funded by the NZ govt) which require player to have a certain ancestry to play for them ....this has no place in modern sport.....apartied finished didn't it? Its a recipe for disaster

Cause no one contests them anymore.. The line out should be a battle for the ball, there should be some pushin and shovin 😅.. It s like watchin the scrumhalves clear the ball with all the time in the world.. So dull.. Not to mention the scrums that take 5 min before the ball is fed, at the feet of the flanker.. Saw a proper feed on Sunday, it was at the women s six nations between France and Scotland..

Things not looking great for my Moana team. I thought they'd be in with a chance again but nope. No positives to take from this game at all sadly. *sigh*....I can't believe that this is what we are now left with. I'm so pissed of at SARFU's decision to pull out of super rugby. As a Saffa I don't care about the Stormers playing some Scottish team I've never heard of and that the Stormers have absolutely no history with. As if it's some big achievement to beat a Scottish team. With all due respect to Scotland.........and it seems like the Kiwi teams are just dominating here. Ultimately now I don't know what is the premier league in rugby now? I would say every sport needs that one league that is the centre piece league ala the English premier league in Football ⚽, or the Indian premier league in Cricket 🏏. But I would say that now there really isn't one in rugby.

Make a league with the Jaguares, another Argentinean team, and another 4 from a combination of Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Namibia, and Kenya. Sure, no established rivalries, but a South Atlantic Super Rugby competition could become huge.
