I spent 5 years in China, then I returned India, currently I am in India. I loved the city of Qingdao, the interesting thing is that when I heard these people speaking Chinese, I immediately recognised the Qingdao accent of mandarin and to my surprise when they revealed they were ACTUALLY from Qingdao, I was happily surprised. very compelling story in this Pandemic! I really enjoyed from the beginning with intro music to the end. I like the story tries to focus on food and people. The people in North Korea are also really good people as the South. I have tons of Chinese friends who share value and respect each other. The miso you guys tasted in restaurant is called " Gochujang" which is made mainly by the fresh red hot chili pepper and bean flour and core paste for Korean cuisine. Also the pasteurized bean paste is called as "Dwyanjang" which often use for Korean soup and for mix with Gochujang for perfect combination with Sesame leaf with sesame oil paste together, it tastes fantastic!

테이블(식탁)이 우리와 매우 닮았습니다. 분단 반세기를 고려하면 이질적인 차림이 되어야 하는데 기구와 구성이 판박이입니다. 다시 한번 동질감을 느낍니다. Table setting is very similar to that of South Korea. Considering tha time gap after the divide for over a half century, it has to be different one but many aspects like formations and tools are a chip off the old block. We feel a sense of kinship again.

Because Western people usually have a prejudiced point of view on NK, sometimes intentionally or unintentionally challenge the status quo. Dude, china and NK are close allies
@yifanwang49064 жыл бұрын
@@ikkeman7920 It's hard to tell. Politically actually China hates NK because of the nuclear initiative, and other factors similar to why Russia hates most post-Soviet countries. But yeah, China needs the NK as a shield or the US, and SK can easily land on the border, which China would hate more. But it's just the overall political atmosphere, Chinese people neither love nor hate NK people, but sometimes they feel connected to NK people because of historical ideology stuff.
@yifanwang49064 жыл бұрын
@Пруфы Есть? Thanks for pointing this out. I guess I'm not very familiar with Russian politics, it's always good to know people don't actually hate each other in reality. Clicked because pretty tour guide. Watched the whole thing because I found it very interesting. The meal looks good but I can't help thinking about the shortages in other places in the country. The tourist banter, though seeming superficial, did give us a glimpse into how their minds work. Those dumplings being described as "the taste of childhood" was interesting, certainly not my childhood, but it's interesting to think that it may be a relatable statement to very many people. I hope all of these people are doing well, may nations always seek to find solutions that allow their peoples to live in peace, even if that hope seems naive at times. Cheers.

This reminds me of 1980 when I was a graduate from a tourism college in Beijing and taking internship with a state-run travel agency. I was doing exactly same job as the Korean girl is except that my clients were from Japan, a country that was then much richer than China. Being a tour guide for foreigners then was a well paid and respected job. I led groups of Japanese tourists around big hotels, restaurants and sightseeing spots in Beijing, being asked the same questions by my Japanese clients as those Chinese tourists did to the Korean tour guide. Beijing in 1980 was also as clean and simple as today's Pyongyang, and Japanese tourists were surprised and impressed how clean the streets and how friendly the local people were. They took photos everywhere using cameras I had never seen. On the other hand, average local people were not allowed to enter the foreigner oriented hotels, shops and other places. As a tour guide was a rare person who can directly communicate with foreigners, we had privileges to shop products not available to local people, eat food local people can't afford, and get tips sometimes more than our monthly salary. But now, my country has had such an astonishing change that there is no longer foreigner oriented spot existing and most average Chinese people can enjoy overseas trips and buy anything they want. What an amazing difference to China in the past 30 years!! I'm lucky and proud of being a Chinese when I see those North Korean people are repeating my past life.

It's because of China that the North Koreans are in the situation they are in...I wouldn't be so chauvinistic about being Chinese based on how the CCP treats their citizens.

It is pretty smart. Since North Korea always has to face sanctions and doesn't trade much, they have to make money however they can. I think they should open up more tourism to western countries, which would bring in BIG BUCKS. They also export labor to other countries so they can send the money back, which i think is also pretty smart as well.
@Ama-hi5kn4 жыл бұрын
Do you have any idea the conditions the North Korean laborers in for instance Russia face? I wouldn't be so quick to glorify that.
@rwww4152 жыл бұрын
China has been North Korea’s sugar daddy not only since the 1950s but historically for several centuries as various ancient kingdoms of Korea were considered vassal states of China. Nothing surprising here when you see North Korea befriending Chinese tourism. As China continues to become wealthier every year and North Korea not gaining any wealth every year, you’ll continue to see Pyongyang less looking like a city of Korean culture and more like a city of Chinese culture. If only North Korea adopted China’s and Russia’s model of embracing capitalism … the wealth disparity between North Korea and China would not be so large. How embarrassing is it for Pyongyang to only have tourists coming from one place, China, while the norm of the rest of the world’s capitals like Paris, Rome, Berlin, London, have tourists coming from a diverse number of countries.

lol it’s like that because only top 1% maybe even less are even able to live there. No one can afford cars which is exactly why the streets are empty and clean. No one has any money and government owns 99% of the businesses which is why there is no advertising cause no one is there to compete with them for the sales. Every person who has ever stepped foot outside NK has told horrific stories. Not a single person who came from NK has ever said how great of country it is 😂 You are super ignorant

The fact that people are imprisoned within the borders of “their” own country, can’t openly communicate with tourists, are locked away from even the internet to the rest of the world speaks all the volumes anyone needs to ever hear. How can anyone justify this?
@crossmaster779 ай бұрын
The people are not imprisoned lmao, they are allowed to leave under the approval of the government. North Korea is not your local market when you can leave and enter whenever and for whatever reason you want. It has borders and rules it enforces to protect its sovereignty. There's a reason North Korea is the hardest country for foreign governments to send spy in. The people can openly communicate with tourists , most dont wannt to though as they mostly do not know second language. The Internet information space is dominated by anti dprk content, there's no way North Korean gov can fight and win against western propaganda machine with its big pocket and high level of expertise. The internet itself is a western project and serves no use to North Korea. You shouldnt fight the battle you cant win.The Intranet is way more appropriate for North Korea as it gives The internet's purpose without any risks and harms.
