The spoiled post modernist delusion. This will sound harsh, but take it at face value. They will never understand it, and why should they? The foundations of human civilization is built upon a trillion grinning skeletons, and mortared together with the ashes of fallen empires and dead kings. Spanning 250,000 years of people living, learning, then dying(usually horrifyingly so). All so you could sip coffee and instagram your latest fashion haul? Fuck no. it was built so you could thrive, and reproduce. Weather that be more people or more physical assets. While there is no "real' reason to do so. Don't expect the rest of the world to just accept it. If you're not shitting out kids, you better be building rocket ships or sky scrappers. Otherwise to the average person, your a lecherous mouth breather. Which is something younger deluded people can't wrap their heads around. It's harsh, but true. Accept that and it'll make dealing with them easier. It's the real base, primal reason gay people have had such a hard time gaining acceptance. Thankfully, building cool shit and making cool art and music tends to run in gay peoples DNA. Hard fought so far, but I see the point. they didn't build all this shit so we can sit around fucking like rabbits guilt free and playing house. That went on way to long sorry, lol.

I love how almost all Irish people and many of their descendants have a very healthy sense of pride in being Irish. The world is a better place to me because of this. It's definitely in the culture of Ireland to promote a witty charm, ruthless sarcasm, and timeless charisma!
@gregrock74516 жыл бұрын
Well, in my family the "charisma" varies widely, but I find many of my relatives to be charming. And the "ruthless sarcasm..." oh my. My mother is a riot, and to the casual/uninitiated observer, our family gatherings would look like a bunch of the funniest dysfunctional people ever. I think this comes from the fact that sarcasm and humor are fantastic coping mechanisms in a bleak situation where you have nothing else to turn to or fight back with; it's a milieu the Irish know well. It's a fun heritage. I don't think the Irish ever conquered or screwed anyone over is history, so we never inspired that kind of animosity in others. Much of what I love about Irish-ness can summed up by the fact that while so many people in America are getting their nuts in a bunch about "cultural appropriation," and acting like their culture and heritage are sacred and inviolable, Irish-Americans on St. Patty's Day will buy you a drink and say "Everyone's Irish today!" It's an attitude and a mindset that is rooted in amiability, warmth, and a seemingly congenital inability to take one's self too seriously. I love it.

She is so sensible and level-headed, she knows : dating is a cliche. I never dated before my first partner (it didn't appeal to me and it sounded too risky and edgy with lots of price on it: drama and your heart) : I just met people, mingled and made friends, then a happy accident was when my best friend and I were in love. We were then good friends, and we knew we wanted the best for each other. Know the person and make sure things are worth it before you bring your heart on the table. This way even if it didn't work out, you can find strength to pass it and separate as good friends. We have that too : people don't always walk the same path in life. Good for you Saorise .. just be yourself and do you.
@ABirdOnTheMoon6 жыл бұрын
I am not sure I agree on it being called a good old-fashioned way. My grandmother and my mother both married to good men they didn't love (that's a sad story on it's own). I have a mentally ill mother (she is brilliant, which makes her illness scary in fact) and her old fashioned way is a random liking or a random interest that ends up in marriage (Marry a good man so even if you don't like him, he treats you well). I am not sure I can quote a generation for my choice of action (nor my mother's), but I sure can point to the soulful books I've been reading and the endless experiences I was exposed to as a functional person in the community with a huge access to people. I've seen a lot and I've heard a lot, and it only ignited my mind to find a common factor in all these failed results. I only found what I read in the books to be correct : Happiness is from within, Love is unconditional or it is not love, Void and fear motivate us to get lost; to pick wrong; do wrong and continue being lost, and also, little miracles happen everyday! (God's love is in the tiny moments of joy we share among us). If you are interested in soulful readings (some revolutionary and thought provoking) I can recommend few to you. Until you find a person who you don't attach to based on needs, voids and fears : I hope you'll find love inside you, enough to fill everything. I find a huge comfort in being me, doing good, nurturing myself and fostering my adopted daughter. I have no doubt my ex still love me, love never ended because we decided we want different things. I am yet to find a single person with a soulful approach to life; people rarely want that though I am not complaining at all! Love comes when you are not looking and I am blessed because I found lots of love and I think that is all what I truly needed. Family members, friends and people that truly love me. It is ok if I couldn't find a person to walk the path with me now or later; I can walk it alone. Though the best part of my journey is that I have a lot of people who randomly stop through their paths, cross my road and we share lovely moments together. Lots of those soulful individuals that I want to hug forever sometimes :). I feel really blessed and I hope you will find this feeling too .. lots of love to you :)

Dogheadpunch may God help you. You are so dark and twisted that you cannot see anything good. Who said dating must happen and people must proceed emotionally to anyone they might like without considering it deeper or seeing if it works as friends first? Sure you wish to go the other way, your choice. You are simply taking everything out of concept and trying to justify your way as right and others as wrong. That’s is so narrow minded that it’s useless to talk to you. People who prefer to be sensible about feelings, act on it slowly and take time to know the person, are in my opinion in much better place than you. Yes you can say lots of words but they define you.

I don’t think we in the states actually ask people for “dates” very often. It’s the same as you. We ask someone out to dinner, drinks, movies, etc. At least in my experience. 😍

Most people here don’t say “do you wanna go on a date” either. It’s the same as you said it is Ireland.

Will Eaton no but like we don’t say the word date its considered too american we just say “go out” or are more direct like the “drinks” thing

You understand that going for a drink or dinner, is a date, right? No one actually walks up to someone else and says, "Would you like to go on a date?" :/

5 minutes of watching someone talk .... and enjoying it... she's got a different kind of charm without trying

It was kind of a shock to here her real accent. I first saw her in "Hanna" and there was no sign of that at all. I looked her up to find out about her. She was born in NY. Perfect. But later on I here her on the talk shows and she sounds like she got off the boat from Ireland yesterday! Even more of a fan now. Got all the movies on DVD.

Ellen's got this incredibly interesting, intelligent, funny person on her show - a lot for an interviewer to work with there - and the best she can come up with is dating games.
