Argh, Agalloch has is one of my favorite top 3. I recently found a band called Morningside & the similarity was unreal.the vocals. Instrumental style.even. subject matter floored me.u shd chk them out. This has shades of Agalloch 2. Amazing.

After listening to the original probably about 50 solid times, I would say this sounds more spacious, almost like a live version. Some of the tracks almost sound like the "Saor- Live in Lockdown" versions, in that the recording doesn't sound as tight or crisp. That's perhaps merely a critical way of saying that it sounds more raw, warm, and folky- which I would surmise for these guys would actually be a goal. The bass sounds slightly turned up, the strings and air instruments seem slightly turned down- and seem to reside within the mix, rather than prominently flitting along atop it as they do in the original. The drums also seem slightly hidden behind the mix, as I think I'm also noticing some new and expanded vocal and melodic flourishes, resulting in a greater wall of harmonic sound at some parts- which obscures the percussion a bit more than the less melodically dense and less dynamically broad original record. The guitar is also much more prominent, slightly obscuring some of the other melodic elements, especially in song like The Declaration for the bit around 18:00 or so. Not complaints at all, just observations. Still a great listen, I really couldn't yet say which version is "better"- best thing is hopefully the result is more attention due, and more coming to Saor these glorious skies with us. Now there are two ways to fly.
