I have both the sand filled gloves and the steel shot ball-bearing gloves. I've been weighing up the pros and cons of both, and although the steel shot ones are heavier, the ball bearings inside seem to spread out more, including AROUND your knuckle, whereas the sand filled knuckles seem to flatten out on your knuckle making your knuckle area more protected and more insulated. For me personally, I think the sand ones are more functional and more justifiable in the eyes of the law.

Here in south east asia you have the chance of getting mugged in a bright day light. One of the favorite places for the assailants is gas station. Different from the US, they don't carry firearms. They carry knives and machetes. Wearing tactical gloves shall give you a significant advantage. I've seen a man trying to block and grab a machete attack with his hand. Glad it didn't chop his fingers, but still, he got wounded. I'll consider tactical gloves as essentials, including tactical torch light, and safety alarm (also mace, if I'm a lady). Other than that, I have the chance for police to detain me.

@@qasimahmed2140 i used an arm sling to immobilize my arm for a month at least it helped the joint to heal properly after that did some recovery exercises to strengthen it I hardly recommend it brother

A SAP glove has steel balls into the knuckle area, that's not a SAP glove. That's just a glove with knuckle protection. I'm not saying it's not effective, just it isn't a SAP glove.

Ive just brought some of these for both protection on my mountain bike rides protects my hands from environment, from busting hand and knuckles when I fall or a in an accident and also brought them for self defense purposes and fighting purposes. I wanted some type of gloves that could protect my knuckles when punching like boxing or MMA gloves that are everyday gloves and obviously these offer quite a lot of raw painful impact to my opponent or opponents in self defense martial arts situations. It will hurt them, potentially knock them out and end the fight quick. Makes a great alternative for brass knuckle dusters because in my country of UK they are illegal to be sold anywhere and banned from been sold. So these are a great option and I have the perfect excuse for having them because I'm a bike rider, my full face mountain bike helmet protects my face alot from punches as well as a great self defense tool in and off itself because I have head butted someone trying to grab me from behind before while I had the helmet on, I carry screw drivers and keys on me to stab with as a last resort but it's a last resort to save my life and I have just risk a jail sentence . Also these gloves be great defense for blocking punches using boxing stances and blocks like the hands Infront of face block and be great at hitting the person's hands after the block to open them up for counter punches. Because the strike from gloves on their fist would hurt like hell and so they leave them selves open to be punched and potentially knocked out. Such a great weapon that is perfectly legal alternative to knuckle dusters. Knowing ju jitsu, krav maga and kick boxing, boxing an karate is great and helps me alot in fights and having these gloves hand to hand combat and damage that can be done quickly to eliminate the opponent and end the fight quickly ten folds. Be easier to knock out or cut or badly bruise the attackers face than it normally would be with bare knuckle, protects your knuckles from getting cut up and broken in street fights now much better now too. Also it would hurt when you deflect a punch and hit the person's arm or hand with the back of your fist or knuckles.

Ho For self defense reasons, how you going to stop someone on a dark side street at night, about to commit a violent crime against you, do you carry the gloves and risk arrest? Do you wear then around to be proactive and again risk arrest? I see these working only if you and the opp are both squaring up or if you are in the woods and have to sucker punch a bear in the jaw, instant K.O.!! Hope they provide a realistic level of safety
