One of the best written and well acted dramas of the 80’s. This was immensely scary and thought provoking. Would love to see it return.

They were like Mulder and Scully but not human. Sometimes Sapphire showed her compassionate side, but Steel would throw anyone under the bus.

Way, way dark. PJ Hammond left us guessing about so much to do with Sapphire and Steel. -But that's what I love about it. I got 'em all on DVD. My favourites are the time capsule and motorway service station adventures.

This series caused me so many nightmares! I was a 12 year old kid when first time watched this, now 23 and it still gives me the creeps. They really knew in the 70's and 80's how to make scary shit unlike nowadays with cgi and other crap. And especially british, they know how to make good tv shows.

Space 1999 was good/scary too. At least the first season.

@@tibijedi702 It was scary in one or two episodes (the thing luring space ships to their death was one that had me hiding behind the couch), I remember it for the Eagle spacecraft though...they still look like real-world functioning spacecraft to this day. The ship designs on any Jerry Anderson production were usually top notch, but the Eagle is the pinnacle for me.

Have watched that again recently, and cannot figure out why that station is closed, still standing, looks like it was closed in the early 1920s AND stuck in sometime with 1970s reel-to-reel tape recorders. The other stories had only short time-slips, like the trip back to the building of a house in the first mission, but this one had me wondering. It's so like the set up for the last assignment; the 'present', the 1950s and a generation earlier as well.
@BaseDeltaZero19722 жыл бұрын
I remember one assignment were they were dealing with technology/an entity powered by living animal foetuses, really nasty stuff and way ahead of its time. This series was dark and creative. I have the DVDs and they stand up really well in my view.

Whoa, this is the only ep of S&S I haven't watched just because the very few glimpses I've seen just really look so freaky. The dude without a face is too creepy for words. I know someone keeps making S&S stories, but not like the actual series. Wish they could bring S&S back, but the only way it could be done right would be with DM and JL - they are essential. It could have been done 10-15 years ago, but I don't know that David could do it now - too bad.

I remember this series being kinda weird and scary. I would have been around 9 or 10 at the time. I'm guessing it shared writers with Dr. Who and possibly the Quatermass films...I'm certainly getting a sense of Nigel Kneale's influence. Quite a lot of British 70's TV sci-fi took directions we would consider way too scary or disturbing for prime-time viewing today. Think I'll go off and watch 'Children of the Stones' now.

Actually diamond is a pure form of CARBON (just like graphite), therefore you could call diamond an element. Steel is really IRON (an element) that's been converted to steel in an electric arc furnace.
@flashtheoriginal2 жыл бұрын
See your point, but diamond is not an element. It is an allotrope of Carbon, benefitting from it's low atomic number classification. No offence intended. Sapphire, steel, diamond and jet were offered as elementary enhancements or structured combinations (similar to synthesis but suburanic). Best wishes

If only two people had such powers. To right the wrongs of the past and make the TRUE villains of yesterday pay for their crimes. Sadly, this will never be reality. Young men who died in the trenches of WW1. RAF Pilots and soldiers who's lives were so tragically lost during WW1/WW2. The villains that like to burn both people (and animals) to death, are still out there. IF ONLY THERE WERE A "REAL" , "SAPPHIRE AND STEEL". ❤️❤️❤️❤️🤔🤔🤔😔😔😔👍👍
