You guys asked so I’m answering…some of the equipment I would suggest: Sieves I use a 1/4 and 1/8 inch swivel combination. I really like the aluminium sided ones that are like this style: www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08P9DT8Y8/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_G801ACJFRMABJRPKJ5JD?linkCode=ml2&tag=kurtle-22 They’re a bit more expensive than some of the others on the market but these are bigger, lighter and more comfortable. A comfortable pick: This Estwing one is probably one of the champions of the market: amzn.to/3OVLGII If you’re on a budget like me you might prefer something like this: www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08M9DK4C6/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_JJ3X6FX3944FK3Y5TPBN?linkCode=ml2&tag=kurtle-22

Hey Kurt's, Great videos mate! Just a bit of a tip I use tweezers when going through the black stones as it doesn't desturb the pile and burry them. You will also find more darker saphires as they start drying out.

Excellent production mate and very enjoyable. Absolute champion looking after that kangaroo and a true man. I've been in that situation myself seeing them left hit by cars or idiot recreational shooters leaving them alive wounded. Keep up the great work. Gem prospecting is fantastic 👍

After viewing a number of gem prospecting video I notice people trying to pick up the small tiny sapphires etc with their fingers , I recommend to make a little carry box or bag to carry items you need , example a nice long pair of tweezers to pick up tiny gems they work fantastic , jars or small viles with lids to put your gems in , plastic bags can tear or rip , crowbar picks shovels seives and pans for gold , emergency toilet paper lol you never know when it will be called Appon , drinking water no taps out there, repellent for mozzies you be surprised when they launch an attack , tweezers for feeding reptiles are very good size for picking up even tiny little stones pet shops have them usually , oh yeah buckets don’t forget your buckets lol ,hope these tid bits of info helped some newbies , have fun.

I remember my parents taking me to porters retreat mid 80’s. Was good Zircons but no blues. Some friends went to your first area, one bloke got a massive blue, but it was a bomb. Still cut into 6 stones
@Kurtleman4 жыл бұрын
Wow that’s massive - I find it hit and miss a lot. Sometimes you go 10 sieves dry just to get 10 in one sieve. I’ve never had much luck at Porter’s either but I haven’t spent much time learning about that location.

I go mushroom foraging in those forests each Autumn and we too pick up the trash that complete ferals have left behind. You are a top guy helping that roo, looks like he didn’t make it with that injury? At least he wasn’t left suffering like so many are when people hit them and just drive off. Lovely to hear the black cockatoos again in your clip. Its quite beautiful out there when there is nobody else around

Giday Kurtle, only found your channel today, enjoyed the video & subscribed. what year was that 50cent'r you found. I'm in SE Qld, recently retired and very much the amature, I have been to Billabong Blue at Inverell a couple of times and got to grips with the basics. Agree with one of the comments on another video, keep the concentrate and redo it at home. I would tend you use a pan and sieves. Keep in mind if any of those creeks have gold you may be throwing some fine stuff away. Recently purchased some sapphire wash from Qld gem fields for the grandkids. Been through it 3 times and found a bit every time. Surprising how much is left in the field. Lots of stories of people finding gems left behind in old concentrate piles. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin
@Kurtleman4 жыл бұрын
Hi Silverback - I’m not sure about the year but I don’t think it was too old it looked pretty recent to me... SE QLD is a Beaut spot to be - I’ve been to Billabong blue too. I only used the dirt pile and I regret not going down to the creek! I’ve kept the concentrate a few times but I have a jar full of the small stuff! I’m happy to leave for the next person. I usually just re-do the concentrate core at the end in one last sieve. You are right though I would find more. I’ve tried for gold there a couple times but without too much luck unfortunately so I have up. Better off putting the effort in somewhere else I think 🤔 I seem to find much more at the beach 😂 I’ll keep going and keep learning though! Very jealous of your proximity to Inverell - make sure to post a picture if you find a big one! Kurtle 🐢

Hoping to get back there soon, as well as Qld Gemfields & Agate Creek next Autumn. Plenty to do in the mean time. Just bought an economy trim saw so I'd better find something to cut up or I'll never here the end of it.😂😂 Looking forward to your future videos. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin.

Thanks :) the main difference is the impurities to the corundum crystal. They determine the colour!
@jasonanderson13242 жыл бұрын
Sapphires can be blue green, yellow, pinkish, orange, all sorts. We have many. Emeralds are Green Sapphire. Rubies are Red Sapphires basically, all silica depends on minerals mixed when growing over time...
@sodoityourself59202 жыл бұрын
@@jasonanderson1324 Thanks for the info, I had no idea!!
@Kurtleman2 жыл бұрын
From my understanding emeralds belong to the beryl family as do aquamarines. They are a 6 on the hardness scale. But I think Jason is correct rubies and sapphires are the same corundum mineral and are a 9 on the hardness scale :)

Suggest you realign your phone so the viewers can see what you see when you flip the sieve. Also to make it more practical have a table or an overturned drum to raise it to a sensible height. I'm sure you get told by many to do things differently and it's not always practical so if you choose not that's fine. Just take it as a hint on making the process better for those that take the time to subscribe. Cheers
