Karveji says that his calculations are based on Dhruv tara. But before he applies the math based on Dhruv tara he somehow comes with a number in his head. This is the part that is some sort of Siddhi. This is from his words. From myself I can add an important note in connection with this method. It is very important to understand here that the corrections for daylight saving time must be discarded, otherwise an error will occur in the calculations.

Formula = Birth date x 6 + Month Number (From the table) + Birth hour (in 24 hour system) x 60 + Minutes Check the total in the table for lagna numbers and that is the lagna. If it's more than 1440 then subtract it from 1440 and the difference should be checked in the table of lagna numbers for the lagna.

My observation is that this method does not work for birth in countries ( like the US) when daylight saving time is applicable
