This piano accompaniment is deceptively simple; it's actually insanely tricky to keep that rhythm while singing-it's kind of incredible that she does it without ever losing the beat.

It’s easier than you think… she’s not thinking about it, your body automatically keeps and stays on tempo it’s subconsciously done with repetition… similar to affirmations… I’m a drummer 🤣 trust me hahah, btw we do this by right foot usually, sara does the same…

It’s called muscle memory you do it over and over until it’s just natural and as some of you said you don’t even think about it. I guarantee she played this thousands of hrs to get it perfect. Still she’s a talent unlike any other! I’ve seen her once live and it was mind blowing! Her dedication to her craft is not found in many!

So nice to hear a voice without shitty autotune. This lady is a true talent and has a serious set of pipes
@antareshartley90311 жыл бұрын
At first I thought that she probably does have auto-tune, but when she sings "I wanna see you be brave" you can hear small imperfections in her pitch. I love those imperfections because it just brings a human element to the performance. She has definitely got some pipes!

When this song first came out, I heard it on the radio when my alarm went off. I was struggling with an abusive relationship and felt trapped, because we owned a house together. I wanted out, but I was afraid. I heard the lyrics, "say what you want to say," "maybe there's a way out of the cage where you live," and "WHY DON'T YOU TELL HIM THE TRUTH!" This song literally lit a fire under my butt and gave me the guts to make a move. And I did. It was hard. It was heartbreaking. But there WAS a way out of the cage where I lived. I never looked back. Thank you Sara Bareilles for this powerful song. Changed my life.

I also think that the piano is all that she needs, but with the studio version I think the extra elements add more energy to the song. I feel like with the studio version there's more energy at the 1st downbeat of the chorus and just even more energy when the backing vocals come in. Either way...wether she's in the studio or performing live, she has got to be one of the best of today's talents.
