Conversation concert: beautiful early music on a diverse palette of recorders
A concert in a very special format: a journey through music history told on twenty gorgeous recorders, in Sarah's trademark conversational style! From the tiny garklein to the giant square bass Paetzold recorders, from baroque recorders in D and Bb to Irish flutes. Sarah weaves her tale through her favourite music from early composers such as Bach, Telemann, Van Eyck, Debussy, Couperin, and various medieval music, to contemporary composers such as Steve Reich, Paula Matthusen, Alice Jones, to Sarah herself.
In this concert Sarah is looking forward to showcasing a variety of music through the lens of a delightfully diverse palette of instruments. How can our instrument choice affect not only our sound for the listener, but how it feels to play? She will be able to compare and contrast different recorders, and show in real time our a musician’s choices can help our music to shine.
With 203,000 subscribers on her channel ‘Team Recorder,’ she is one of the foremost ambassadors of the recorder on KZbin and in social media. As a soloist, she is at home in both early and contemporary music, in various genres, and on international stages. We are delighted that ‘Team Recorder’ will be live in Amsterdam. Sarah brings a colorful bouquet of her favorite melodies and preferred recorders, sharing stories from her world in our talk-concert. Look forward to this more than exciting talk-concert!

Un très beau florilège , une prise de son rendant bien la qualité de facture de chaque instrument , en particulier des beaux graves .Merci pour ce très très beau partage , alors que arrivons déjà aux 10 ans de la disparition de Franz Bruggen. La flute à bec décomplexée , telle pourrait se presenter cette si belle prestation.On ne peut que remercier JS Bach en passant qui par ses tanscriptions possibles enrichissent tant le répertoire de notre si belle famille de blockflote.Bravo pour les variations sur la gigue pour cello , tjs euphorique pour moi à jouer ou à écouter.

¡Great performance! I believe it was both a start and finish on a soprano, nice to have the size most folks are familiar with be the “bookends.” You killed it with the shanty. I could see (hear?) the closing performance being played as part of a modern art exhibit (intended as a compliment) and of course is good for entering a meditative state. Thanks for grinding that one out for us. Super nice to hear the full version of the medieval tune you often “quote.” I also chuckled at your casual picking up and moving of … a small fortunes-worth of altos, as if they were firewood ( pragmatic, no pretense). Your later joke about the Tenor (it’s not a hiking stick!) felt in the same vein, I thought it was funny 😊 Your kindness also shows through, cheers 🎉
