Wow, that's terrible. I met my favorite comic artist, the late Michael Turner (he worked on comics like Fathom, Witchblade and Tomb Raider). He was a very nice person, fun and easy to talk to. Not the slightest trace of arrogance. Came across as humble and knew quite a lot about scuba diving too. I miss him. He lost a long battle with cancer.

I grew up in Phoenix, so cabs were just not a thing. Yes, we had cabs, but you only found them at the airport. And if you needed one, you had to call and speak to a dispatcher. And because Phoenix is so spread out, cabs were expensive! You had to have a vehicle! When we first moved to Seattle in 2006, I basically parked my car and either walked, took public transit or a cab. I lived in the CD, and a cab from downtown to home was like $5, plus tip. And well worth it. Before we left, I noticed less cabs and more lyft/uber/etc. I remember feeling guilty and was talking to the driver. I don't know how it came up, but he told me that even though he has to use his own car, the pay for the upkeep and the gas/insurance. He made more money than he did driving a cab. He explained about having to lease the cabs and the cost of the medallion. He said something like, how it is supposed to incite you to want to gain more fairs. But in the end, you are just working to pay for the lease and end up making very little money. We were just in NYC this past month and I was glad to see that there is a healthy mix. We took cabs when we could, but sometimes we wound up in odd areas where we saw absolutely no cabs. We had no idea that if we just walked a few blocks we would hit a street that had them. So, Uber came in handy because they always managed to find you. First of all, G'bless each and every one of those drivers, they are always there when you need them. They will get you home safe, and you should be thankful to them for that. Meanwhile; All she had to do was walk another couple of blocks up, I saw several more cabs passing by. In any case, I love SJP. Stop being such haters.

I wonder the average cost of a taxi in NYC. Where I live a taxi driver charges $1.50 to go downtown. My neighbor drives a taxi. I can easily get a cab by waving if he's outside, a simple phone call, or walking next door. You don't have to be rich or famous to enjoy life.
