Her artistry is so amazing! Her black swan is so alluring it becomes such a stark contrast with her white swan.

I wonder if the wardrobe department go down to look at the dancers on stage? If they do why would they give Siegfried black tights? We can hardly see his legs here on you tube!!!!!!!

Perhaps it s different on stage but why do they put dancers in dark costumes when the scenery is dark? This is lovely but Steven disappears into the background!

IKR. That‘s like stage 101 not to place dark costumes on a dark background.

Haven't seen a manege at the *beginning* of the coda before! His barrel turns seem to suspend time. Can someone explain the ending? And thanks so much. I have never seen them in Swan Lake before, and this is quite a treat!

Weird Production mainly costumes seem to have been obtained from several different costumiers the male corps have howard sleeves and Mc rae seems to be 100years or so later

It's possible they brought their own costumes from the Royal or have their own costumes for guesting.

Where was it performing? I'm so curious because it seems like mixture of Royal ballet version and Yuri Grigorovich's version who was former artistic director of Bolshoi.

Love the dancing! Always a fan of Steven and Sarah. But oh my I could not listen to the sound coming from the orchestra. Or is it just my device 🤔.
@musicloverlondon60702 жыл бұрын
Thought exactly the same thing. Not sure what on earth was going on but the music sounded as if different sections of the orchestra were fighting against each other and the overall effect was abrasive and harsh; a bit like nails on a chalkboard at times! The violin section sounded particularly hard-edged. It could be to do with the way it was recorded but definitely there is a problem somewhere! Having listened again, I do think the problem lies with the poor audio capabilities of the device that the performance was recorded on.

I always love the chemistry between Steven and Sarah. The orchestra wasn’t… great… stiff at places, too slow, and the dancers couldn’t keep up. That weird moment at 37:00… and Steven gave such a lovely variation too, it’s a pity. Sarah’s black swan was also uncharacteristically dry and shakey (apart from the first duo of the pas de deux). I think with a better production they will make the ultimate Black Swan soloists.

I found this a rather static and uninspired production and there were moments when the orchestra sounded like they were beginning to fall asleep.Steven and Sarah are trying har dto add interest to this turgid ballet.

What on earth was wrong with this conductor - high, or arrogant - that he wouldn't follow the dancers when required? Made their Black Swan pas de deux very difficult for them.
