Oh, Sarah, you are just so incredibly inspirational to me; a hero really. It gives me hope to watch you. I have Aphasia from a vehicle accident 3 months after I received my first TBI from falling; the 2nd concussion/TBI gave me double vision and Aphasia, plus a multitude of other issues which include constant migraines & headaches. So many of your words & statements are exactly how i feel. I don't know anyone with Aphasia. It took 1.5 years to get into a neurologist's office and just yesterday the MRIs came back and showed i didn't have a stroke, and it showed white spots that are from having bad migraines & headaches, so it proves the Aphasia is from the accident. When I get stressed, or over stimulated, my Aphasia is much worse, and it is embarrassing. I get scared that I may forget all words. Just know, please, that your videos are beyond helpful. And your mom, what a jewel she is! It feels like you are my friend and you are so charming. Congratulations on your wedding, you both are lovely! God bless your marriage. (I live in Idaho, USA.)

Sarah, I had a major stroke a year and a half ago. My aphasia is improving but I completely lost it for a whole month before I spoke for the first time. I really like your stories and how you have improved all these years. And you taught me that I will always have aphasia forever. That makes me hard many times but your thoughts help me know that I can do better even with my aphasia. Thank you for your marriage and that you are such a helper to me.

I am writing this comment all the way from South Korea. I first watched your 1st video at 19 year old or something because I wanted to know what aphasia looked like in reality than my neuroscience textbook. I was trying to understand Broca’s phasia. You left me so much learning and beyond. You are such an inspiration and hope to the world. I appreciate how you turned your vurnerability into power as you embraced it. I had a major stroke in August 2023. I am 53. I was lucky that there is a drug they called a stroke blocker. After time in the hospital my speech started getting better. Basic words at first. I was lucky that I got into speech therapy early and read and writing started coming to me quickly from going every week. Today was a bad day as I had trouble communicating. Being in the USA I am very worrying about what the future holds. I am happy that your life has gotten better for you and wish you the best.

My son was shot in the head 2010 and has come a long way, like you have. He had a job for a while but had to quit bc he ❤ remembering some of his tasks. He refuses to tell people he needs help. He also didnt like to go out much. But he has moved 10 hrs away with a girlfriend and seems to be doing good. He also has problems w words you dont say all the time and also with numbers. He is exactly like you say. He needs to see it. I started following you many years ago. Keep it going. i love to hear how you are doing.

Interesting that you mentioned confidence - you can see the progression over the years with Sarah's confidence improving. Clearly numbers are still a challenge - I'm curious as to how you've adapted to manage this as best you can day to day and are there any particular times when it's more of an issue than others? You also mentioned how it changes your life and you as a person - the Sarah I knew from our many years online is very much still there, though. We'd been out of touch for a bit before her stroke, but it's sometimes hard from an outside perspective to think back and realise how we took the ease of communication for granted and how easily it can be taken away. my aphasia has been a problem since my stroke at 17 but have always been able to push through it. however, laitly ive noticed other people think im getting angery at them because when i notice im having a hard time speaking i speak louder so i can be more clear and they think im yelling at them . i got denied a loan to move because the mortgage broker thought i was yelling at her which got my move paid for in the end because she was worried id sue for discrimination so she gave me an intrest free no need to pay back loan. she offered $10,000 knowing i could legally get $20,000 plus my court fees and i said it was an hounest mistake i just need the $6,000 of the original loan i was asking for so i got that and called it good i can move and not look back

I wonder if ChatGPT could be a helpful tool for people with aphasia. When you have to write a very long email you can ask in much shorter and simpler terms what it needs to say, and it'll produce a full thing for you

i know you probably get tons of questions about your condition, and you are probably tired of answering them at this point so feel free to ignore me I will think nothing of it. do you struggle to say the words your thinking of, or do you know the word and cant say it. I constantly forget common words all the time and cant recall what it is, its like i know the word exists but cant say it. im only 30yo.

Sometimes Sarah knows the word but can’t express it, so she tries to find a similar word if that makes sense. Have you got aphasia? It’s worth speaking to your doctor if this happens a lot. Thanks for your comment!

I've been watching these videos for years... which is sort of strange, since I have no relationship to anyone with aphasia. Having an advanced degree in writing, though, I do place a high regard on language and communication, so i think that's where my interest stems from. And I always wonder: are you able to type at a "normal" pace? Is it a block between the brain and the mouth, or the ability to formulate these words in the first place? But since typing is usually a lot slower than talking, I wonder if you're able to type as whatever speed you're capable of typing. Anyway, congratulations on getting married!
