So good to see you love this music as much as I do.... Beautiful reaction, Sarah! By the way, as you mentioned Jon Anderson's speaking voice: his voice is in a natural high register. So he doesn't sing falsetto (like the Bee Gees would have done) but with his natural range! 🙂

I was fortunate enough to catch these guys live 1 month before I joined the Air Force in 1977. I started the bass guitar in 1972, five days after I hear the album "Fragile", because of Chris Squire's incredible performance. Chris was the last original member and passed in 2015. Rest in Peace, Gentlemen and thank you for the wonderful music!!

Yes is pure magic. Nothing like them. The singer Jon Anderson isn't with Yes any more but he he still performs a lot of Yes music with various bands and makes a lot of new solo music. He is supposed to be touring again with The Band Geeks again this year, doing all Yes and maybe Jon Anderson solo stuff, you should go see them for sure. The official Yes band has a different singer now, but they still tour a lot. 2 of the main Yes members have died, but the guitarist in this video leads the band and is still amazing. Check out Jons solo stuff, maybe start with Song Of Seven. Anything from the Yes Going For The One album is also a great next step, like Awaken and Turn Of The Century.

This was a very special tour with the European Festival Orchestra beautifully recorded on the "Symphonic Live" DVD, showcasing the "Magnification" album their 2nd & final album with orchestra & sadly their final album with the extraordinary, irriplaceable Jon Anderson as well as many other Yes classics. The concert opens with "Close to the Edge" to a standing ovation, it is an absolutely phenomenal performance that I highly recommend you also check out. They also do an incredible version of "The gates of Dilerium" the final "Soon" section is beautiful beyond words. Best wishes

I was 17, when this album came out. I think I was overwhelmed by "And You And I". It was the third time I head it that I wept openly. I've never seen this live performance of this song; thanks so much for sharing it, and for sharing your honest emotions...oh, in case nobody's told you: that guitar-thingy played horizontally, that Steve Howe is playing, is called a dobro, and it's almost exclusively used in Country music! I've never heard it used this way, but that's Steve Howe: innovative guitarist. You're right, too; Jon Anderson *is* THE VOICE.

I had one of those heavenly moments while listening to this song, And You and I. It was a nice hot summer day on a beach in Malibu, California, sitting on the beach with the surf only several yards away. The sound of the surf with people having fun and the lovely scenery of the big rocks surrounding the beach was incredible. It's one of these moments one cherishes to fall back on when one needs something good to reflect on. This is why YES is a great band, timeless music for all generations.

The hope and the sadness of all aspiring angels, awakening into this mortal life... The mountains and valleys, we walk the long road... We see the awesomeness of our God, our loving creator, who explains the wonders of all creations, the scenery along the way... We soon feel what we now miss, being away from what we once knew... Always hopeful, sharing goodwill, always willing to share what we love, giving it away as we have received... Love touches us here in this life, a kind friend giving us what we give to others, why so difficult to accept such a gift... Humble and never wanting to burden another, do we politely decline their gift, not wanting to give what little they may have and let them go without... We struggle in conflict in the moment and realize, the warmth we feel as we give unto others, as they too struggle to accept a gift of love... We let down our gates that protect our spirit, smiling we accept their gift, realizing, after all this time we we were not the only giver in the moment, but in the willful acceptance of the receiver in allowing us to share what we loved so much. Their gift unto us, letting our love flow with loving acceptance, though they did not want us to go without what we were giving loved so much and so gracefully desiring for us to enjoy... The beauty of the benevolence of our Creator, we now understand we too are deserving of the love from others as we give so willingly... And why so willingly do aspiring angels share from the pure spirit of love, is it because as we have walked the long road and rarely experience what is so pure, the spirit of love that inspired all life, are we alone in the knowing... We speak to our creator every day as we walk, keeping our hearts warm, new patience each day, gaining knowledge and wisdom from other aspiring angels that we so rarely meet along the long road... Unknowingly transferring knowledge to each as our creator has planned, unknown to us yet, until a day comes the moment of its purpose, we marvel in knowing we had been prepared yet again, we are not alone or without purpose, elated to be a child of the spirit of love... We fulfill another much needed part in the will of our creator, another step towards eternity, we remember from where we came... With age we begin to long for a mortal companion to hold and to share the wonders we have witnessed and received... is it in our journey for us to hold, for us to experience the creating of a new life... longing for the fulfillment of our own family, our hearts protected having been broken more than once... We continue not expecting such a beautiful gift, never wanting to be disappointed for it may not be for us in our part in this time... We look out from the vistas in awesome wonder, and imagine if we do have a soul mate ahead.for us on the long road, and feel the love flowing between us so strong... We thank our creator for the gifts we have already received in each we alluded dangers from his whisper of alarm and the way to exit and not falling prey, and in every revealing of the beauty of life, that allows us to see through the evil that taints the view of those not knowing... It is the knowing we must share to those who have not yet remembered, or who were too distracted to listen to our spirit after entering this world... Aspiring Angels, We are not Alone, our part is ongoing and we will all share in the Glory with our creator, and create things unkown that elate every spirit as we all behold its wonder... Having given my all with loving passion in all that I do, I once held that gift of family I so dreamed of and desired... Created four new lives, my heart filled with love, if only she was my soul mate, I so wanted her to be, I would still hold the gift given in such loving grace from above... I do keep the gift in eternity in the memories of my life, to visit when I long for the love, so content and I so thankful for each day... So as I find myself getting nearer the greatest part in my purpose, the inflow of knowledge and revelation are now filling each day and into the night, I knew from the beginning a day just may come, for it is why all the preparations and long lonely times in between, it is in the air all around us but do not be afraid, for there is no power stronger the unity of benevolent love, as our spirits will come together upwelling the pureness of the love of our Creator, and together send our waves of pure love that reach the spectrum of the brightest pure light, of which no evil can ever survive, the frequency resonent we cleanse our world, and begin to live lives intended in the beginning... Angels at last... Tears flow from both sorrow and happiness combined, as I sing along to this song, Yes, tis for you and I God Bless all aspiring angels may you meet your soul mate, no matter how long or brief it may be, and keep it in your eternity of sweet memory Love you all

It was great to see your appreciation for this excellent band.If you do look at Yes - Awaken - Live in Birmingham 2003. You will see the magician of keyboads Rick Wakeman .Richard Christopher Wakeman CBE is an English keyboardist and composer best known as a former member of the progressive rock band Yes across five tenures between 1971 and 2004, and for his solo albums released in the 1971.The lap steel guitar, also known as a Hawaiian guitar, is a type of steel guitar without pedals that is typically played with the instrument in a horizontal position across the performer's lap. Unlike the usual manner of playing a traditional acoustic guitar, in which the performer's fingertips press the strings against frets, the pitch of a steel guitar is changed by pressing a polished steel bar against plucked strings (from which the name "steel guitar" derives). Though the instrument does not have frets, it displays markers that resemble them. Lap steels may differ markedly from one another in external appearance, depending on whether they are acoustic or electric, but in either case, do not have pedals, distinguishing them from pedal steel guitars. You can put them on a stand like Yes did.And they two in one.Thank you young lady.

I'm so sorry that you can't see these guys live anymore. This was a show that I would sell my soul (not really) to see whenever I could. I'm kinda at a loss to suggest your next YES song, cuse they're all so good! But, try "Starship Trooper" or "Ritual" live (songs from Tsonga 2004). Or, as @PeterDay81 suggests..."Awaken". All great songs. I'll be waiting.

Your reaction to YES confirms that Jon's vision was achievable and that he has known exactly what he was trying to do all along. I highly recommend his first solo album 'Olias of Sunhillow' if you are moved by the positive uplifting quality of YES, Jon Anderson's masterpiece released in 1976 is the most genuinly healing music I have ever heard, stunning from beginning to end.

I have seen Yes 4 times in concert. Every time, I feel like I float out of the arena. Masters, each one, at their craft. This performance, however, did not have Rick Wakeman on keys. That would be my only complaint. But then, I have albums of Rick Wakeman aside from Yes.
