I moved here recently with my daughter and we are currently renting in Santa Ana near San Jose. However, my mom will be retiring here soon and we will need to find the perfect area that will suit 3 generations (65, 44 and 22) with different needs and wants into one home. There are public schools everywhere but if your child doesn’t speak Spanish that will be a really hard adjustment. Also like any country the quality of public schools can vary depending on the area. I would consider a private school if possible.

How do you reconcile with the fact that you are essentially colonizing yet another country? I've been thinking about moving to CR or somewhere else in Central America but I do not want to contribute to any kind of gentrification or end up living on stolen native land.

Please don't move to my country. We have too many foreigners driving up congestion, real estate prices, and the cost of everyday things. Pick any other country but mine.
