Very interesting video, Sarah, thank you. When I was growing up, we weren’t allowed to touch my mom’s sewing scissors, and this included my dad!

Thank you for this! I was well aware of all the scissors except for the goldwork pair. I have worked with metallic threads many times in many different projects, but I have just always used my regular embroidery scissors to cut them without ever knowing that goldwork scissors even existed or without it even occurring to me that metallics even posed such a problem. I will certainly remedy that mistake to buy some goldwork scissors asap, so that I can keep my newest embroidery scissors in good condition for a longer time, thanks to you! I just found your channel a day or two ago and immediately subscribed, and I am enjoying your content so very much!

My Daddy was doing some wall papering. Mum walked in to see if he'd like a cuppa. She caught him using her BEST dressing scissors. No rude words apparently, but perhaps it was best that I was at school!!!!

Many times I watch your KZbin videos thru my smart television. Although I am subscribed I can not leave a "thumbs up" unless I go to my computer and look up your KZbin channel directly. I hope that KZbin can count people watching on TV or on their cell phones so you get credit.

My mother bought me a pair of small gold scissors. I am going to have to go and check the blade for serrations. I just put them away as I have some stork scissors that I love and use instead.

AWESOME !!! I have a pair of stork scissors and an old pair of pinking shears ;) I've heard that you could sharpen them with tin foil is this true ? If not how do you sharpen them ? Thanks for sharing ;D
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery3 жыл бұрын
I think tin foil cleans them. Find someone who sharpens knives to sharpen your scissors!

Tin foil will actually dull the edge, and not do much else

Sarah, which do you recommend for hardanger? I have a hard time getting the fabric cut close to the kloster blocks.

Very useful Sarah, I didn't know about the lace scissors, they may need to be added to the stash! Thankyou x

You have some bonsai pruners in there 😳🤔

Very useful video, thank you. Do you use the gold work scissors for metallic threads too (to avoid blunting the embroidery scissors)? I use a titanium blade small scissors (very affordable) for that purpose only but they aren’t very elegant 🙂
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery3 жыл бұрын
You could yes Gabri's Stitches; I have a separate pair for cutting metals with (just a different pair, they don't need to be serrated) although in most of these threads the shiny part is plastic of some sort.

Nice video. Thank you. Are forged steel or stainless steel scissors better?
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery2 жыл бұрын
Forged steel is stronger but has a rougher feel Grace but stainless steel is anti corrosive and smoother beause it's polished

I don’t sew or cut fabric. I just really like scissors 🤷♂️
