Okay, So I came up with a back story for the house. Originally, this house occupated a rich man who was a party animal type person. The house had 2 bathrooms, a large walk-in closet, a bar, an outdoor party zone, and a kitchen for his personal chef to cook food for him. After he moved out a pair of lesbians (because of the pride flag being the lesbian pride flag, I Think, I could be wrong) And there adopted teenage daughter tried to renovate the place, only to realize they didn't have enough money to Redo the plumbing situation or move the back door and now they are currently trying to save up enough money in order to finish the renovations and fix the mishaps from They're ambitious, financialy ill planned renovation. What does everyone else think about this idea? Good or bad back story for the house? ( Also I think the house looks fun and really good )

And that's why they still have the bizarrely placed middle-of-the-house bathroom... because taking out the toilet would leave open sewer pipes (rather expensive to deal with, I assume) but they've blocked it off as much as possible, because everyone is obviously using the fancy new bathroom! And that's clearly where they PLAN on putting the dining room table, they just can't yet!

🍀 I think this was a young couple who was in the middle of converting a run down house into the home of their dreams; they’d already installed the bar they wanted and changed one of the old bedrooms into a luxury bath and were in the process of removing the old bathroom when tragedy struck. One of their siblings died unexpectedly and they suddenly had to take custody of their nieces; they moved the office stuff into the master bedroom to create space for one of the girls, then gave up their dream walk in closet to be the new living room so the older girl could have a space to stay that didn’t require her walking through their bedroom. It’s awkward and messy, but they’re doing their best to make it work.

I know what this is. It's a grandparent's house. They have all these bedrooms for when family visits and stays over, but since most of the family lives in town, they don't need as many beds. But bathrooms? Especially after Thanksgiving, there needs to be a lot of bathrooms. I'm guessing that this home was the one the parents grew up in, but since the grandparents weren't amazingly well-off, they just modified their house to fit their family's needs. And they obviously sometimes need time alone away from the family, so a private movie room is perfect, especially when there's another TV and a hot tub to keep the rest of the family entertained.

i have a weird backstory for the build: The house used to be a Spa, that explains the insane amount of plumbing in the house, but it also was used as a workplace for the people in charge of the business side of the Spa, that's why there's an inside-room kitchen and the parents room has a weird shape (the living room used to be the boss' office). Sadly, the people in business weren't too clever and the Spa went bankrupt quickly, leading to the property being taken by the government. Few years go by and some family moves to the house, mostly because is big. The house is occupied by the parents, their disabled kid and their personal caretaker. The kid needs a room with easy access so they can be guarded 24/7. By making this possible the living room becomes an open room with is own bathroom and a nitch where the caretaker sleeps, with no doors or walls in case of an emergency (?). Some of the stuff that can be found in the house were left by the Spa business, such as the hot tubs, the bar and most of the structure of the inside kitchen, as well as the outside showers and laundry room, that also used to be the workers' bathroom.

My immediate guess for the reason behind such a strange layout was "slow burn fixer upper". They had to move in immediately, but the only functional room in the house at the time was the main area. So they set up a Murphy bed for the parents and the kid was given as much privacy as they could give them in what was meant to be the kitchen one day. Dining and bathroom set up in the main area as well! Then as they slowly fixed up the other rooms, they had already gotten mostly used to living where they did, so they just turned the other rooms into what they were missing, still! I am only 10 minutes into this video though so the rest of the vid may change my mind

Here's what I thought for the background story, it's two siblings or two friends who lived in dorms in their college years and one majored in art (hence the little instrument in the first room) and the other majored in engineering and loves decor. They're both super supportive of each other so one came up with designs/ color scheme and the other was in charge of placement, but because they were used to small spaces that's why their rooms are in "odd" areas, and chose to have a bigger bathroom because they finally didn't have to share! They have lots of friends so they invested in a bar room, not so much the kitchen since they kinda snack a lot ( hence the snack bin) but they'll experiment every other paycheck. The big room is intended for relatives more because their parents are movie lovers, and they also want to make sure they're really comfortable when they come to. They're rarely home because of their careers but have parties almost every weekend so they have easy access to bathrooms. Also the shell looks awesome! I love when you do modern/contemporary/industrial styles 🤩🪴

Great video! For the backstory/house layout explanation: I honestly just assumed the two "no privacy" bedrooms were guest rooms- especially the murphy bed one since it is set up to double as a living room situation. By the end of the build I was thinking the place was owned by a lesbian (the pride flag used) couple, who have grown up kids if they ever had kids. They didn't need a huge kitchen or dining room, just enough of each to cook and eat, so they chose to still buy the house even though the only kitchen is tiny. The small bedroom with a computer could act as a second office if both of them work from home on the same day. The hot tub idea still works in the desert if you account for temperatures plummeting at night. Plus you could turn down or off the hot tub's heater to use it as a pool with water jets instead. The showers are there to wash off the sand cuz it gets everywhere. And two guestrooms with three tiny bathrooms feels like they get a lot of guests. Although, the laundry room and outdoor shower/hot tub bathroom are only separated by a door, so they could count as one big indoor/outdoor bathroom. So a social lesbian couple makes sense to me. The only things I'd add to sell the backstory would all be in the unused area of the backyard- a grill area, maybe a separate bigger pool, and a conversation pit. Also the glass bit of awning makes sense as both a little sun shield if it's tinted as well as "if it ever does rain in the desert, i would want an awning to stand surprised under". If one added a pool the outside showers could also be there to rinse off chlorine from said pool.

I honestly thought this challenge was going to be you choosing a different room's furniture for each room! For example, you are doing a bedroom but you roll "living room", so you have to go to the living room section in buy mode and only use the furniture from that. But, you still have to try and make it look like a bedroom. There's another idea!
@Flogrog4 ай бұрын
For a variation on this, you could do the shell but sort out a floor plan so you already know what each room will be. Then if you decided to do the bedroom first you could roll the wheel and say if you got bathroom you’d have to do a bedroom decorated like a bathroom. Could get weird.

To me it’s giving second year uni accommodation with several toilets & rooms for several students. The big bedroom with the TV room isn’t a student but a friend who the students rent too so the friend/owner has the big room & proper living area. The open bathroom concept is still hidden away enough I think it works as a communal bathroom for mostly having friends over. The bar is because the owner knows that the bar would bring in big spending renter uni students. The tiny living bedroom is available as a rented bedroom at a very cheap price at the cost of also having there room as a communal living area that then can unfold into a bedroom at night time & occasionally the students just unfold the bed to watch tv together. The extra cost is because of the luxuries such as the big bathroom, outdoor hot tub & bar. The kitchen is small & closed off like most uni kitchens so it’s a small sacrifice for extra expenses the student’s friend/owner has to cover. This makes sense to me bc I’m in the UK & my friend lives in an accommodation with similarities to this in structure & storyline. The person they rent too is their friend who has two big rooms downstairs & the rest of the house is split off to serve different functionalities such as bedrooms & small living/ kitchen areas, however their bathroom is lovely & they actually have like a mini corner they use as a alcohol shelf haha

My personal head cannon is that this is in a town where partying is illegal. (Kind like footloose but for parties.) So I imagine a bunch of college sims live here and have illegal parties here and have it set up incase the cops show up. Like the dining room being in the entrance for what they can see from the door. The Murphy bed in just looks like a livingroom area. The other bedroom in the open living space has curtains. The bathroom with the outside door is for people to use to escape/hide when the cops show up and no one would expect that's an exit door because who does that? The other rooms behind closed doors are obviously where the parties are held, like the bar area and the hidden living space. Also the closed off bedroom is just a normal bedroom that had a walk in closet they turned into the hidden living room and the large bathroom is just good for hiding people just incase. Lastly, the outdoor bathroom is just a place to shower off before/after the bathtub.

okay i've been thinking about the backstory... John and Lucy purchased this house sight unseen for their family of 4, they immediatly began renovations, they tore down the wall to the bathroom near the entry way to switch rooms with the kitchen to make more of an open concept for their kitchen and dining needs. however the contracter fell through so they are stuck in the middle of that bathroom reno. Their teen son likes to fall asleep watching tv so they let him use the murphy bed until the new living room furniture arrives. Their youngest child didn't want to be on the opposite side of the house from everyone because they get scared of the monster under the bed so until the family gets a new contractor to tear down more walls they hung up curtains to give her a "room". The family is also planning to tear out the toilet in the laundry room that leads outside since they have 2 kids they go through a lot of laundry

Window in the room is not weird at all! In my country, some of us have a window in a kitchen so people in the living room can see them cooking. TBH it’s depended to the owner too! In my house, the room that had window suppose to be reading room but she renovated to a kitchen : ) with the window that still there. I had visit other home and seem like some of them also have a window in the kitchen too.

On the topic of the back story for the house, Before she passed my grandma actually bought a place that was a pretty open floor plan for the most part cause it used to be a restaurant it was like a huge one but there was a good size kitchen n a room n bathroom my grandma even made a laundry room built her own shower and sink and made her own living room space and a craft corner sectioned off by shelves and there was even a quest bed right behind the living room area for a while obviously my grandma couldn’t afford any construction on the place but she was very crafty n talented so she made due with what she had n could so maybe this was an old restaurant that went it of business or switched locations n they also just stuck with the floor plan n made due n we’re happy with it

I'm imagining this house is like if we were living in an alternate universe where instead of valuing privacy in the bedrooms and bathrooms, it's instead on the rest of the rooms :D

I like it and I actually would like to download the house. They could also be a family that didn't wanna live the traditional way.

First time watching you but I actually love this! And I have a theory!! So it starts with a couple, a very shy girl (A) with her extroverted wife (B). And that's why the living room is connected to the bedroom so A has a place to escape too. And B loves mixology (henceforth the bar room). The kids room was once a office until B's parents died and their sister had to move in with them, so they converted the office into a bedroom. The living room lounge was always like that for incase a friend slept over or they had visitors. The random open-plan bathroom, I think, could have worked as just a normal guest bathroom. It didn't really need the shower. Does this make sense?
