My first LO was induced, my second was natural labor and I have to say both where exactly the same level of pain and intensity. I didn’t have an epidural with either, not being I didn’t want one but because I progressed too quickly to get one. So don’t be scared about induction being more painful! Both were very fast, about 3 hour labour’s from very first contraction to baby being born.

I had 3 home births and then had to be induced with my last. For me the pain of pitocin contractions were way worse. They were so rapid (one minute apart or less, lasting a minute and a half) compared to my natural labors (with my last two natural labors the contractions were never less than two minutes apart), and they more intense. But I also gave birth within 45 minutes of starting pitocin. At one point my doctor checked me and said I was dilated to an 8 and we had a little longer to wait, and then two contractions later I was ready to push. So it was all happening very fast which I think is part of why it was so painful.

I’m really surprised that I’m not mourning the “ideal” birth that I wanted for labor/birth. I go to get induced in 14 hours, and I think it’s just been so much better for my mental health to know that no matter what, I have an end in sight!

Do you think being induced creates a shorter labor?

@@xHeartHeartbreakx No, an induction does not create a shorter labor. All an induction does is manipulate the cervix and the uterus to create contractions and cervical changes. It cannot cause a labor to be shorter. If you want a shorter labor, drink lots of water to stay well hydrated, eat healthy meals, walk and exercise, keep your legs wide when sitting, standing and walking (climb stairs and curb walking), see a prenatal chiropractor to keep spine and pelvis in alignment, and be active in birth (move and change positions).

My water had broken but I didn’t go into labour. They induced me. I was 4 cm dialated at 39 weeks. The contractions were horrible. I was having 6 contractions every 10 minutes. Baby was born 8 hours later.

My kids were all taller and heavier than they thought, and in spite of not being heavy myself, I had gestational diabetes, which they knew, and said they were taking into consideration. I went in for an ultrasound at 38 weeks and was induced later on that night. My baby was not growing anymore. I did not know what to expect at all. This video was still helpful on understanding it all lol. Know I know for next time!

I was 40+1 with my first when I was induced (elective, my husband traveled for work and I wanted to be sure he was there). I didnt even know about the bishop score and am now curious what I was at. When I was admitted, I was only 1cm dilated. I was hooked up to pitocin at 7:30am and had my daughter at 12:55pm, with no epidural and was able to move around the whole time. Luck was totally on my side, I was definitely prepared for a 72hour labor. Now, I'm due Jan 16 and am hoping to go naturally this time. But, I'm still bulking up on all the info and binging your videos, just to feel more prepared.

@@SithMami aww, thanks for asking. ❤️ Well, the induction didn't really go anywhere. 😅 So after 2 days of inducing, I ended up in the operating room and getting a c-section, because I just wasn't dilating at all. But thanks to these videos and the wonderful care team I had, I was so calm going in to it, everything went so well and my beautiful baby girl is now 7 months old and perfectly healthy. ❤️

I live in a largely populated city. One of our hospitals shut down its L&D maternity ward recently, during this pandemic! We’re still having large numbers of people getting infected with Covid-19. In order to prevent overwhelming the county hospital with an overwhelming number of women in labor at one time, local clinics are currently scheduling induction of labor for women at 39 weeks.

As much as I’d love to labor naturally, i don’t feel it’s safe for me or baby with the distance from the hospital (not just the one my OB delivers at, we’re an hour from any hospital that delivers) I think the benefits outweigh the risks that could happen for me. I know this video is old. I’m 38+4 with my third baby and I’ve been watching your videos since my first pregnancy. But I’m here because I’m scheduled for induction in 6 days! Went into labor naturally with my first two, had vaginal births, no epidural. That’s what I hoped for this time but I found out I’m GBS positive and considering my labors have been 7 hours and 5 hours total, I talked to my doctor about my concerns that I won’t have time for the two doses of antibiotics. My best friend’s baby had sepsis so I really want the peace of mind of having antibiotics. This way they can give me the two doses before they start the induction process. If I go into labor naturally before then, we hope for the best!

I was induced a week late due to leaking water. My cervix had been “unfavorable” for WEEKS and wasn’t changing. I was 2cm when I came to the hospital. The nurses told me to expect about 12 hours because at 24 hours I’d be looking at a csection to avoid infection. He was born 8.5 hours later. Everyone was shocked, my doctor even kept mentioning based off being a first time mom how surprised how quick and how well I did.

Hahaha MEEEE! I am 3day induction. With my first i made it to 42wks with no signs of labor, so i was induced. With my second, my blood pressure went up, and was sent to the hospital. My daughter was about 2 weeks overdue and my child was too big and unfortunately my child had gotten stuck and my current pregnancy is very hard on me and he is a bit bigger as well.

Most doctors are now automatically inducing at 41 weeks universally, which has significantly lowered the chance of dangerous newborn problems like meconium aspiration syndrome etc. Not sure where that 41 + 3 week statistic came from, most women deliver within 2 weeks before and after their due date. The newer evidence from controlled trials out of Europe reports there is also not a higher chance of c/s statistically with induction after 39 weeks. FYI :)

I have had 2 inductions and praying for spontaneous labor this aug. The cervadil gives me crazy contractions that stress baby and oh my word it burns!!!!!!!!! I really want to experience birth without being induced I'm going to push for a couple extra days this time as long as baby is happy.

I'm being induced Dec 17th. lol Perfect timing for this video. I've watched most of your others, which are awesome! Can't wait for part 2...literally. My doctors have brought up induction 3 seperate times due to the severity of SPD/pelvic pain (or maybe bc baby's due date is Christmas)...I've been taken out of work for 2 months now and doing pelvic physical therapy. 3cm-50% effaced 2 days ago... will be 39 weeks on Monday.

You can also try the midwifes brew it’s a natural drink to induce I did it with my second and it worked :) so thankful that I didn’t have to go get induced in the hospital.

My doctor told me 16-24 hours for my first! I was 2cm dilated and 80% effaced and was in labor for 6 hours! I have to be induced at 38 weeks because I am on daily blood thinning injections! My second I was 5cm and 80% effaced and was in labor for 2 hours! Scared how fast this baby will come!

I was given Pitocin twice ( In IV ) & I also was given the vagina insertion twice for 12 hours each time . Ended up having contractions for like 60 hours , took no pain meds .... Never dialated AT ALL , not even 1 cm , ended up having a c section ..

I’m scheduled for an induction on September 7th but my due date is September 14. I don’t understand why my FNP wants to induce me since I have a healthy pregnancy, no risks and no discomfort at all. She states that the reason is that there’s research that shows that 39 weeks it’s ideal to give birth and that it gives me a better chance at avoiding a c-section.

I have been induced four times. In Sweden it’s almost impossible to deliver at home and I have fast deliveries therefore induction. First one took less than 5h and my last induction took me 55minutes (bishop 5) Hope to get one next time again in November:)

What will they do if you give birth at home despite trying to get to the hospital? Here in the United States it definitely can happen that a woman accidentally gives birth at home because they just don’t realize how fast it’s going to go. I hope it’s not penalized in Sweden

For my first baby I checked in at 2cm dilated & 70% effaced while 38 ½ weeks. Was given a cervix softener which made me 3cm dilated & 100% then 2 hours later my water broke naturally. Checked in at 5pm & had my daughter in my arms at 9am :) even though I was induced bc of hypertension I was already on my way to having my daughter

With my third kid, I was induced at a week after due date. It was 3 hours start to finish. No tears, manageable hemorrhoids. They broke my water off the bat, however, I was 5 cm without going into labor.

My water broke at 37 weeks and stayed broken for 4 days without an increase in contractions. When they admitted me to the hospital to induced me, the doctors had me sign paperwork saying that I wanted an elective induction. All turned out well thank God, but I still feel like they only had me sign those forms saying it was "elective" because of the insurance coverage/ they would get more money out of it. Still makes me a bit wary of the doctors to think about it. Oh and ps, I was a first time mom and the whole process was only 8 hours from start to finish so stay hopeful!

I’m scheduled to be induced December 18. I’ll be 39 weeks and 6 days. My firstborn was overdue, 4 days to be exact. My water broke but was not making progress so I ended up being induced with Pitocin. She weighed 8 lbs 11 oz. She fractured her left arm during birth. This history makes the doctor believe to avoid this happening again is to be medically induced. I’m only 1cm dilated and 40%effaced.Which then, gives me a feeling that it may not be a good idea to medically induced. Anxious 😟

@@elidehernandez7253 aww hun, it was actually an amazing experience for me. We started with balloon catheter overnight, I was 3cm at 6am. We broke waters at 7am, and pitocin drip was put in at 8am. I spent my active labor on the bouncy ball and would walk to the bathroom every hour or so. I accidentally ripped the drip out around 12pm and he was born 1:55pm. 1hr pushing - I was exhausted. He's 17 months this month 🥺❤️

Great video. I had my first baby at 38w5d,all natural,it was when the baby decided to come,my water broke at home I ran to the hospital bc i was bleeding, so I got there at 10cm already and 1.5hrs later he was out 🙌. But bc i was 10cm already i took no meds at all,woooow that was wild 😳 Oh,one tip,pls dont take this the wrong way but the video would look better if u were into the camera and not at yourself
