I have that Patchouli fragrance too and yes it does smell chocolatey! It's such an interesting fragrance. I imagine it will layer well with a good vanilla too.

I have shied away from trying Vanilla Silk because it is so often compared to By the Fireplace. Many reviews also said that it was hard to smell the vanilla in it.

I have also been into patchouli fir winter. I have a sample of jovoy psychedelique and I'm in love. The thick chocolate cake patchouli with it's slighty, cooling, camphor like edginess is perfect for the all the ice abd snow. But.....Javoy is PRICEY. So my question is does anyone know how the reminiscence compares?

Not comparable to me. What you’re describing sounds like Female Christ by 19-69. It has that chocolate cakey patchouli with the camphor in the background. The Javoy and the 19-69 are a league of their own.

@@Isellhouses1216 thank you. I also had a sample of Female Christ. It was interesting and liked it quite a bit but I wasn't ready to drop the cash for a bottle. I also have a sample of Francesca Bianchi's Sticky Fingers. It also has that chocolate cake, camphor like patchouli. It's lovely. Although I still prefer Javoy's version since I like the more straight forward use of patchouli in it. Because Sticky Fingers also has leather in the top and as with all of Bianchi's fragrances in the base it has her signature overdoes of sweet, powdery, orris. Which becomes ever more prominent in the deep dry down. Which is cool in that it takes a kinda old school "masculine" patchouli vibe and gives it a modern, soft touch. So if you aren't familiar I'd suggest maybe sniffing it. You might dig it.

Everyone always says BDK Gris Charnal and Dior Prive Gris Dior are rainy day
