Sarah the label "ACHTUNG! Bei allen Pruef- und Einstellarbeiten Motor-Kennbuchstaben *AMU 018 721* beachten!" means "WARNING! During all test and adjustment work, observe motor identification code AMU 018 721" (meaning when checking or adjusting, use data for that motor id code). It doesn't mean anything to do with an Allen bolts (which are 'Inbus' or 'Innensechskant' in German). You're doing an amazing job, THANK YOU Sarah for such a great channel and the frequent uploads! All the best, Rob

You're making great progress, Sarah. Your patience and tenacity are very admirable! I was going to send a suggestion on how to press bushings, after seeing your Instagram post, but saw that someone else had already done that. It will be interesting to see that video and exactly how you got all of the bushings done. I appreciate your inclusion of nature events in your videos. It adds to the entertainment value and is heartwarming to see your love of animals. Keep up the great work.

Sarah, You have done so much to make tatter-tot (sp?) such a nice car especially from when little Sarah and you did the road trip back from SLC. I think you were smart in diagnosing all the electrical gremlins first as well as tackling the Haldex system woes. You motivate and inspire a lot of people with your determination through each of the project cars. I am truly empathetic when you experience these things that slow your progress but even at the worst of times you regroup and come back to knock it out. Keep up the great content with real issues, quality work, tremendous attention to detail, and three nice cars to show for it. Truthfully, most of the widebody fill-in-the-blank builds are not very good quality or it seems they are learning as they go (which I say good for them) but I see them as just click-bait. You're the real deal and that is why I like watching you work.

Watching some of your old content and saw the spot free episode. What works best for me (and cheaper than deionizing filtration media) is filling a 2 gallon garden sprayer with my under-sink RO system. I wash the top surfaces, hit it with the RO, then alternating sides, always finishing with the RO. I don't even have to dry my wheels anymore and they still don't have water spots on the chrome. Once I move the system into the garage, I'll just use a long tube to rinse directly from the pressure tank.

just found this channel and burned through about a dozen videos real quick! Loving the episodes related to the Audi though. I've been pulling my hair out working on my mini that has been the same kinda nightmare to work on. Being able to relate to Sarah's frustrations has made her videos very entertaining to watch for me. I'm looking forward to catching up on everything else I've missed on this channel as well as any future videos to come. Thanks Sarah!

Nice work Sarah... one hint, that loctite 271 won't do much on the plug, as the turbo housing gets well over the release temp of 271. Resbond would be what you need there.

I bought my 2006 STI in 2011 from Salt Lake City. Same thing... the body was fine with some minor easy to fix surface rust on the bottom of the rad support, but the cad plating on the bolts had been eaten away. I bead blasted all the hardware and had it all replated.

Fantastic video! Love your patience and attention to detail. What i have done in the past for heavy items or needing the third arm is to use things like rope, bungies, or come-a-longs to provide some lift or, at least, get the part approximately in place. It sometimes even works!

For what it's worth, I like this channel precisely because you don't have a "super big budget," you don't act like a trust fund baby, and you aren't trying to do janky builds/restorations on wrecked Lambos that wind up never even getting driven hard or shakedown tested (really, what's the point then). This channel, LegitStreetCars, Jake Spence, and of course Cleetus are great because your love and earnestness for what you're doing and the projects you work on really comes across in your vids.

Nordlock washers are great for ensuring nothing backs off, needs to overcome the internal wedge, but, the serrated faces do require a higher tightening torque for equivalent clamping pressure, 10-20ish percent. While you still have easy access, retorque those manifold to turbo bolts to around 60NM.
@BornRandy62
@BornRandy62 5 жыл бұрын
aftermarket exhaust manifold has different dimensions because it isnt OEM. So minor clearancing the exterior is allowed . once it is in service for about 3 hours of run time it will has the same rust patina as the rest of the part.

I do have to ask how in the work you keep your garage and self so clean working on these old cars. My best cars and trucks still get me and the floor covered in grease and dirt! By the way, shoot your hard to reach bolts with PB Blaster and use the "grabboid" to hold the top of the bolt and use it to run a couple of threads in the hole and then you can use your extended Allen keys.
