Lead work is the way to go, it actually bonds to the car and can flex eith the body. When a body twists slightly, bomdo can pop right off.
@redrevoc
@redrevoc Жыл бұрын
@@machinist7230 Agree, but properly applied thin layer of bondo becomes pretty well bonded too. Depending on where exactly on the car you put it, it can last just as well.

As an old panelbeater. "autobody repairman" from the UK.. Metal Finishing and Lead Fill was the way I was taught.... Never used Bodyfiller.... If a panel could not be repaired, then we made it.. I am now 72 yrs young and offered my skill set to teach others .. And have been told a number of times, your skills are no longer used...just replace the damaged panel and bodyfill... I learnt my skillset in a old-school shop with a 6 year apprenticeship..

Sarah, when you pour the paint. Open the tin. Then grab some masking tape in a V-shape across the top. Stuck flat to the tin. Cover the edge. Then when you pour, it pours from a single point. No drips. No mess. Peel off the tape and the lid goes onto a clean surface too! Thanks two bits of masking tape. It’s a game changer. You’re welcome.

Lead is old school for a reason. The paint doesn't like to stick and is famous for peeling. That's why the top shops don't use it anymore. Witnessed that too many times to ever consider using it on any of my projects. Throw in the toxic part and it seems like a no brainer. A fully welded seam with filler lasts decades without cracking if properly applied.
