Great Q&A! Thank you! One comment about our Canadian healthcare system (from a HCW)... although we don't pay at point of service for our care, we do pay heavily for it in our high taxes and very long wait times. There's definitely a trade off :)

I was going to say the same. Your healthcare is definitely NOT free. I’m in the states, and I’d bet Canadians pay way more than I do for services.

Yes I lived in Canada when I was young and also UK when I was older. My parents much prefer the US health care. Yes it's expensive if something goes wrong but you will be seen right away and the doctors are great! I think if you have 5+ kids it might even out though I'm not sure. But for those with no kids or only a couple it's more expensive in Canada because you are taxed for it.

Hearing you say you go out for your mental health everyday and how you can just be exhausted and if I’m just existing that’s OkY it’s just for now. LITERALLY made me feel so much relief I’ve had so much anxiety and guilt over constantly just going out every day, and feeling so tired. But it gives me so much purpose and I’m so glad that it’s not odd or a “bad thing” to do everyday. Thank you for the reassurance for this moment in my life

I appreciate you blurring your kids faces and I hope this message comes across with the intent it is meant (with kindness) - blurring faces is a good step but the people you’re protecting your children from care very little about their faces and much more about their bodies unfortunately. I strongly believe children should be protected in every way and have their privacy. Xx

I appreciate your comment towards sacrifice in intimacy. There is a strange cultural drive in men to not use condoms (especially with some Christian men!!) and I think this point is often overlooked. Women sacrificing our health with hormones shouldn't be the norm ✌🏻
@kitty19254
@kitty19254 Ай бұрын
I actually understood something different. Very euphemistic for sure (I definitely understand maintaining personal privacy but I think advocating for healthier pregnancy prevention is really helpful!), but I thought she was referencing something more like FAM (fertility awareness method) which requires knowing and tracking your cycle and not having sex during ovulation. Could be both/either! Totally agree about the injustice of women's hormonal birth control being the norm. Not a new idea, but I'm totally convinced it's a derivative of our historically (and in many ways currently) sexist, patriarchal medical field....not about it.
@kitty19254
@kitty19254 Ай бұрын
For anyone unaware, FAM is often vilified as being the same thing as the "rhythm method" (even still described as such on Planned Parenthood's and others website). It definitely isn't! It's based off an intimate knowledge (and testing if necessary) of your own unique cycle, not the arbitrary 28-day standard cycle of the RM which also relies on past information to predict future fertility as opposed to treating each cycle as it's own discrete function. :)
@isbllaechannel5561
@isbllaechannel5561 29 күн бұрын
I'm pretty sure she didn't mean wearing condoms and she relies on God deciding if she will get pregnant or not. I might be wrong but that's what I understood. I respect her view but I also think that in 2024 we should give to science and prevention more credibility than "God's choice". That's just my opinion.

She was not talking about condom use. She most likely uses NFP or simply does not prevent. This is what I do. I have 5 kids and am open to more. However, I use NFP if I need to avoid (currently on NFP because my baby is 8 months and I am healing from csection)

Does anyone here follow, Life with Beans. An Australian family with ten children. They have great, simple birthdays, at home, with a cake of the child’s choice. For gifts they have four gifts; something to wear, something to read, something you need and something you want. Simple, family time. The child also gets to choose an outing they want. Nothing spectacular but just special for them. 👍

I absolutely love this idea! Birthdays are so big and so expensive and it feels like it takes away from what the child really wants or needs. I like the idea of going back to simple and thoughtful birthdays that are special occasions for family. Thanks for sharing I am eager to check them out.

I have five kids. I stave birthdays off for as long as possible (🤣), so don’t really celebrate first birthdays - they don’t know, they don’t care - and second birthdays are veeeery minimal. In our house it is three or four gifts, very like the practice you mention, and something special to eat, be it cake, donuts - made or bought - but simple simple simple and nothing really junky ever. We don’t do parties or gatherings unless the child specifically requests such a thing, that has happened once (!), and the day is otherwise low key maybe an outing to a play park or cafe. We have very little money but I find without building birthdays up into some frenzy, they are always very enjoyable and low key and the kids love that! They don’t want anything else and love those special days. One thing we do that is weird to most and I don’t know anyone else who does it, is I always get each other child one small gift on their sibling’s birthday. I early on realised this helps spread the joy and allay jealousy and moodiness and makes the day happier for everyone. Birthdays are much anticipated but very happy and manageable events for us!

As a newer mom it can be hard to compare myself to someone like you, but it's incredible that God really just gives you what you need for your specific stage. hi sarah. i know this video is older now and i don’t share a lot of the same views as you but that’s okay, i just wanted to say that so many of the words you shared in this video, that i believe stem from your personal religious beliefs, helped me so so much. i am in a place where my life has gone to nothing. i’m 24, i can’t take care of myself, i’ve been abused my whole life in various ways and now suddenly everything i had to live for and loved has all been taken away from me in the space of 2 months. it just keeps getting worse and i have been so frustrated at myself for being unable to take care of myself. to do the things i need to. to not be able to support the few people i have left in my life let alone myself. and so many of your words have been amazing reminders, sent to me i believe personally by the Universe, or God, or whatever you believe in or want to call your higher power. i needed to hear these things today. and although i’m not a christian i do have spiritual beliefs and this was a reminder to trust in them, and that i’m exactly where i need to be right now. and although i may not understand the reason right now, one day i will be happy again and will be able to see because i believe everything happens for a reason, including me coming back across your channel today and binge watching your videos while crying. so thank you and God bless

What do you do to encourage independent play from a young age? My daughter is about to be 1 and she goes through phases of playing independently really well and not, and I worry that I’m going to disrupt that, or let a little bit of a regression be a setback!

I heard her talk about this on a podcast, but she said basically she makes sure to spend some focused one on one time with her kids before starting her chores around the house so they aren't as hungry for her attention and can play more happily on their own.

Simple birthdays are the best! We live in a world that is so materialistic and vain. Except our simple birthdays always include a home made desert! (Usually brownies!)
