Beautiful scenery as I travel in Bosnia & Herzegovina from Sarajevo to Mostar by train, then onto Dubvronik (Croatia) by bus. See what you can expect on these two forms of transportation.
This was the end of my ten day solo road trip adventure of Bosnia & Herzegovina. See all the my travel vlog videos here: • Bosnia & Herzegovina 2019

I am local, I am from Mostar. I think you missed out on all the views, as you don't feature a single lake view or the breathtaking Neretva canyon. I take this train ride regularly and the views you featured in your video are about 40 min outside of Sarajevo- which is just an area with some mountains and small villages, and you also feature 10 min before entering Mostar... so you missed out on all the views which are around Konjic and Jablanica.
@XennialTraveller
@XennialTraveller 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Adela. There were some good views, but admittedly some of those I didn't get good footage of, and there were a lot of parts of the canyon which are nice to look at, but because of the trees and bushes along the train tracks didn't make for great video footage. Still a really nice train ride that I would do again :) I stand by my view that I preferred driving around that area vs the train but certainly if you are going between the two then the train is a great option.

@@XennialTraveller Doesn't look like it... I had flights booked to Ireland, but they still have a 14 days quarantine on arrival, so doesn't seem worth it for a 4 day trip haha. How about you?
@XennialTraveller
@XennialTraveller 3 жыл бұрын
@@OneShotAdventures Haha - well, definitely not if you're gonna spend your entire time in quarantine!! I'm heading to the UK next week. I originally planned to go to Malta in the first part of the trip and then finish in the UK with friends. But since they now got removed from quarantine exemption, I've cancelled Malta. Since the situation changes so rapidly, I'm going to do a last minute decision when I'm back in the UK. Could be that if I think the risk is manageable I go somewhere that is not UK quarantine exempt, but fly back in the UK just to transit for my flight back to Hong Kong (where I will have to do a 2 week quarantine regardless).

There are so many random, quirky, interesting things about Bosnia & Herzegovina. I really have a lot of time for them. The reason for it (which I only found out later) is that Dubrovnik was previously its own city-state before being part of Croatia. Apparently they're building a bridge to connect the two parts. Yes - it actually was that empty. There were a few cars sparsely occupied like the one I was in (everyone had 2-4 seats to themselves) and others practically had no one. I guess there's just not enough commerce to warrant many passengers between the two cities. Not sure why they don't just remove some cars to save on fuel.

We love to travel by train, but a bit of a shame that there were so many tunnels. The view from the bus looks great though! So many times when we travel on buses or trains it says there should be wifi but it's just a marketing trick I guess 😜 Was 10 days enough to spend in Bosnia & Herzegovina? We would like to do a similar trip like you did.
@XennialTraveller
@XennialTraveller 4 жыл бұрын
I was a little disapppointed with the train, but at the same time, also glad I did it rather than sit on the same bus for many hours. I think with the Wi-Fi, it probably worked at the start for about a week then never again 😜 Hmmm, for me, whatever amount of time I have in a place is never enough 😂 But 10 days gave me a really good chance to see a large part of the country from cities to national parks - hiking, rafting. If you have the time, I think an extra 5 days would allow you to see a few places I'd have wanted to go to, but didn't have the time... and also you'd be less rushed than me because my schedule was super tight! Hope you guys get to go.

Trains in Eastern Europe are such a unique experience! Such a cheap way to travel from one country to the next. Did you talk any more with the boy at 4:55? April said you should always go with a pastry instead of a pathetic chicken sandwich, hahaha! 😇 Not as long of a travel day as our train ride from Romania to Bulgaria (video out in a couple of weeks), but it seems travel days are always tiring. I loved Dubrovnik! (Except for all of the stairs, lol)
@XennialTraveller
@XennialTraveller 4 жыл бұрын
I think trains in most places are a great way to travel! The boy at 4:55 wanted some money off me, which sadly I didn't give him because there were quite a lot of kids wandering around so I figured they would swamp me if I started... And having experienced this, I now agree... I was being my accountant self and trying to work out a combination where I could spend exactly all the Bosnian Marks I had left. Haha, there were indeed a LOT of stairs and hard stone streets in Dubrovnik! Only got to spend about 24 hours there though... kayaking around it was really fun.
@GoTravelOnTheCheap
@GoTravelOnTheCheap 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, best to say no to the kids asking for money. We encountered some begging children at a more major highway intersection in Mexico, and they were trying to block us from going by--kind of scary! 😳 LOL, we had a leftover 5 Euro from our trip last March, then we took it on our trip in December, but we still managed to come back home with a 5 Euro despite our efforts to spend all of our foreign money. Kayaking looked fantastic! Hopefully you can get back to Croatia; there is so much more to see & do that even we didn't get to...
