A duet between Sarangi and Duduk instruments from India and Armenia performed by Vanraj Shastri (Sarangi) and Aneesh Kashalikar (Duduk). We met for the first time a month ago in Boston where we filmed this impromptu performance. We hope you enjoy this music as we look forward to a collaboration track featuring on my upcoming album.
Sarangi is a bowed string instrument from India with 3 playing strings tuned low Sa - low Pa - high Sa (in this case with sa on D) and 35-37 sympathetic strings. Duduk is a double reed instrument from Armenia with a cylindrical bore and a smooth velvety tone created by a thick reed that is limited in capacity to overblow thus limiting the instrument to it's fundamental range of an octave and a fourth.
