I have just finished watching this, side by side, with three other versions. My main observation is that, in this performance, every note is imbued with thought and emotion and given space to breathe, as mirrored perfectly in her facial expressions. An impression I did not get from the other performances. A very precious talent indeed!

Only v.c. Jung-A Kim can play this music on the cello because her fingers can move with near light-speed and only she can play this because of versatilities - which amounts to almost a variation, improvisation. I love this piece, I have heard it countless times on the violin. But what's happening to me, why am I beggining to like it more on the cello? Could it be your fault Jung-A? Here, the singing tone of the cello is simply otherworldly, and the execution of the dynamics demands quite some musical brains - another outstanding performance. Hello Jung-A, your last performances of the Lamentatio were absolutely fantastic! I watched both the Let's Clay and the House Concert version. When you first played it, I was not so interested, but now I fell in love with your performance of Lamentatio, I think it really fits your style, also it is a very interesting piece, where you even need to sing. Your performance in the white dress felt very angelic, the only thing was missing to play this in a big cathedral with great acoustic! It would be such a crazy audio and visual experience to play that piece in beautiful building as a church. Your performance even brought some tears out, so I wanted to let you know I really appreciate your work and music, I think I just became a forever fan of you. 😊

Usually I have to relisten such pieces and performances more times, and now I want to compliment your understanding and feeling you put into the third section, which has the melancholic melody, I think you understood well, it needs to be played with much emotion as even if it sounds nice it is rather a sad, tragic part. I am not sure what the Spanish Sarasate wanted to represent with it, I only know that a slow part was usually used before the fast Czardas hits in (the last section). However when Sarasate visited Hungary, the country not long ago lost a freedom fight against Austria in 1949, and also the mood of the people in Hungary was rather melancholic due to the loss of war. For me this section always represents the tragic history of Hungary, but you as Korean can understand the same tragedy, because Korea was also occupied by bigger countries in the history and has tragic moments too.

Many people don't know that these melodies come from the Hungarian folk music of the 19th century (so I try to make people aware of it 😆), and even less people know also Liszt used one melody of these in his Hungarian Raphsody No.13 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIfMoGeved1mobM I usually listen to violinists, you are the only cellist I follow, you have great and interesting style!
