Compact Dikshitar Krithi in Raga Nagagandhari. This raga is a Natabhairavi janya and close to various other ragas like Jonpuri, Mukhari and Saramathi.

Any connection to Shanmukhapriya? At times it sounds like that raga in some phrases.

Good observation. Yes, will have some resemblance, like Jonpuri in certain parts but the shuddha-madhyama phrases will obviously make it clear that it is not Shanmukhapriya.

What is the difference between Nagagandhari and Jonpuri? I dont see much differences in the swaras.

It is not possible to describe the differences completely in terms of svaras, it is more a matter of treatment. I think Jonpuri is a relatively recent import into the Carnatic tradition from Hindustani. Nagagandhari is probably an ancient raga that has fallen off the radar because of Natabhairavi. One easy difference in terms of svara to spot is the occasional use of D2 in Jonpuri.

Thats why i asked, thank you! I , didn't find the use of D2 in Hindustani Jonpuri, nor any references. However, in renditions by Karnatic musicians, as you said, I can hear D2.,

Thanks for your question. I typically do not document detailed notation since it is important to learn by "ear" and focusing on svaras is not recommended. Smaller phrases can be useful to notate so I've tried to show that in the video. Best regards.
