SWFL has had some rough weather lately but it sounds like your neighborhood was spared from the awful flooding. I hope you stay safe this year!

When nations argue about politics, bad things happen to the economies. We should say about school quality, family, kids, better lifestyle and living quality

Number 1 downfall is the traffic it is horrific, if you want to spend time in traffic move there. The beaches are ruined by traffic and places to park. Roads have remained the same and no infrastructure was thought of before all the people came to live here. Houses are way over priced and not worth it. Prices of rentals are crazy high you have to make 200 thousand a year to live here.

My husband and I have lived in Sarasota for 20 years…It’s highly unusual for it to dip 35-40 degrees in the Winter. The average temperature is the low of 58-69 degrees. 😊

Yes thank goodness it doesn’t happen often ;). This year it was coldish at night for a few weeks.

I lived in Sarasota in early 70's. After Easter the town was like a ghost town. The 80's were pretty much the same, but during the 90's hosing really grew. Got married at the Quat in 2001, but it's now a Ritz Charlton. Move north to Tampa area and now up in Jacksonville. I loved the Sarasota area but its just too expensive now.

Thank you for sharing. How do you like Jacksonville?

@@thesrqrealtor Jacksonville is too spread out. I takes around 45 minutes to drive from South Jacksonville to JAX Airport on the Northside. Tampa Bay was far better, but I do miss Sarasota and the beautiful beaches.

You completely left out the ever growing historical Rosemary District. Hardly discussed Downtown and didn’t touch at all the new Bay Area.

I’ve lived in Sarasota more than 40 years and I loved it until it was named #1 retirement place and it is destroyed now. Commissioners must be making huge money because there is literally nothing quaint or beautiful looking at building building on top of one another. We fight traffic high rent for nothing . Dead animals on streets ever day. One day y Raccoons in a roll hit by car!

Downfalls from a nyer who's been a Sarasota county resident for two years now. Rents are just as high. Food sucks and is more expensive. Wages are lower for trades. Houses that are a million dollars are pretty much 250k homes. The general contractors down here commit more fraud and have zero work ethic or pride in their work. People are slow and in their own world. Snowbirds and elderly people will crash their cars into you. The beach is gorgeous and the views are gorgeous.

And restaurants close at like 8:30. You're stuck eating at Wawa if you like to eat later, unlike NY. And, yes, the food sucks....don't know why but there's no taste to it. Forget good pizza. The work ethic is also lazy. I stopped hiring private handy-men (you can't count on them) and go with licensed companies even if they're more expensive.

Florida living? No thanks. 6 months out of the year it's unbearable. The idea of being forced to stay indoors or at the beach, with my nuts stuck to my leg is not my idea of fun
