Exactly. We were taught that in film school: Studios just become confident and they made movies faster. Think of all the spoof movies from the 80s and 90s. They declined. Then, people were more picky, opting for rom coms or Raunchy movies. A genre doesn't die of fatigue: It just reinvents itself, because of a demanding audience.

Look at westerns, they still get made but when the genre was at its peak such a giant amount of ‘em were made, the numbers don’t even compare. Fatigue certainly dis set in, it didn’t die out and the genre reinvented itself and keeps doing that, but fatigue certainly did set in. Same with musicals.

Another aspect that shows how badly The Flash movie failed is how poorly it communicates that the DC universe is being rebooted. This was supposed to be the last movie in this universe. Aquaman 2 was scheduled to come out before this movie too, but because of delays it's been pushed back to after, and I assume that's what the end credit scene was supposed to be. Like "Hey guys, Aquaman 2 is still in THIS universe, not the NEW universe".

I can't remember where I heard it but I was listening to a piece about this topic a few days ago. It comes down to bidding wars between VFX studios. The competition for contracts is so fierce that the studios will over-promise and undercharge. Then, they don't have the budget to pay for enough artists to do everything they promise to a high standard to the deadline. The artists themselves end up being overworked and do a worse job too. I think it's on the production companies to recognise this problem. Move away from a kind of auction model and just pick the best VFX studio, talk honestly about the costs involved, and make sure the VFX budget and time is adequate.

Even though Whiplash is my favorite film of 2014, Birdman was my runner-up that year and was happy about that winning Picture, Director and Screenplay. I thought Eddie Redmayne was outstanding as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything but I would’ve loved to see Michael Keaton win Best Actor. But I’m still pissed about Jake Gyllenhaal getting snubbed for Nightcrawler as he was my pick to win. I do think Benedict Cumberbatch was fantastic in The Imitation Game and Steve Carell was amazing in Foxcatcher.

To explain for Adam, the reason there was no second Flash at the end of the movie is because the first time, he was knocked into 2013 of the other Flash by The Dark Flash (who was the future version of the younger Flash) so that the events of this movie can happen. It's a time paradox, which they do say during that final battle scene, which granted still doesn't make too much sense, but that's what was happening. Time travel always gets messy.

the animated flashpoint movie told the story so much better. not only was it better explained why the flash couldn't save the alternative universe but it also a better send of to old universe that everyone grew up as a kid. unlike this iteration. it was so much more consistence with it rules. Also that movie had a better fans service and the flash actually not only learned from his mistakes but also knows how to use time travel to it benefits.. overall the animated movie is just better.

I understand their problems with the inconsistencies between the flash and the Snyder cut of justice league but they probably forgot that the Snyder cut doesn't really matter to the rest of the DCEU. More so for Adam since he doesn't watch all of the DCEU movies
