Thanks for a detailed coverage, really appreciate your effort. I do disagree with your views on Caravan though - it's not bad capital allocation as the target audience is entirely different as compared to the digital/streaming business. As you've noted at different points in your video, people who're listening to the songs from 1960s/70s aren't really that tech savvy and would prefer an extremely simple to use device such as Caravan. It's USP is its ease of use, the solid collection of over 5000 songs and the fact that you can just have it playing in the background as you continue with your routine (same as your example). As I see it, Saregama can use these old songs in two ways - a. People who know those songs and want to get access to them - either through caravan or streaming. Again, it's kind of people of that generation introducing the next generations to the music from their era (organic). b. Saregama can recreate these songs to reach a new generation of listeners inorganically. The key here is ofcourse not losing the essence and melody of the original song.

Saying that hardware is bad capital allocation is probably 1st level thinking. If you think about the mindshare that saregama is aquiring, then you'll realize that launching hardware to gather mindshare has been a consistent strategy for all software giants like Google, Amazon through Google home, and echo. While the selling margin of carvaan is low, we need to think in terms of potential mindshare captured. Agar grandparents ke through children sunenge toh woh bhi search karenge You also didn't compare the contraction of tips music streaming revenue wrt saregama revenue which has been growing very stable way. Why? Think about it.
