Hi Ernst, this is on old traditional from South-Africa. We used to sing this tune with my band in the sixties. The lyrics were in South -African but it's very simular with the Flemish language. You did a great rendition with this instrumental version. Loved it. best regards Eric

Hi Ernst! I often hear this music. It will be in a good mood. Real dancing guitar music. Your upload is the best. A little nostalgia for the years from 60's. 5 ***** + * playing and sound. Congratulations. Lajos

Greetings, Ernst ! Love hearing you rock it up ! Love the "Shadows-style" dance steps, too ! The alternating legato and muted lines in the fade out are a real nice touch ! Keep on entertaining us ! Cheers, Dan.

Thank you! This is an old traditional Afrikaans song reportedly created in South Africa around 1880 Not knowing it was on KZbin as Sarie Marijs and also as Sarie Mareis, I had been fiddling around with it in a Duane Eddy style, starting on the low E string. I thought at the time that it would be great to let Duane Eddy know about the song. And low and behold, here it is in a different octave.
