Saris Bones Bike Rack Set Up & Review

I had a Saris Bones 4 for my Volvo....GREAT product!!1 I could move 4 bikes at 80 mph no problem!!!

We have a similar set up for one of our cars. The plastic covered clips are fine, never had an issue with paint damage. Nice looking rack.

I have just got one of these, i had to buy a false top tube due to the angle of mine. Also to prevent lights being obscured i took my front wheel off and used the second bike straps to secure it. I used pipe lagging to protect frame and car from peddle scratches. I have also had to sort a plate to attach as mine is completely obscured. Not arsed about rear plate not been lit tbh. Shame i cant share a pic

@DaveNoakes get one from Halfords it was £22 rather than £36 from Saris Bone. It's spring loaded and extends to 76cms

Tried the Saris rack but prefer the Thule 9103 clip on rack.

Thanks Dave. and ...yeah. I had to get a hitch put on my hatch back , it was worth it !! My rack stays on , no straps etc.... Oneup USA . The one you got ....mmmmm better than nothing , but not much .

I definitely would prefer a hitch one…there’s also the whole thing of it blocking the plate and lights…I’m starting to see why roof mounted is the way forward.

The tag on the car is a small problem in most places

I had a bike rack 20plus years ago that came with a plate to put your registration/tag on it. Nowadays it doesn't seem to be the case. Gutted ingot rid. Of it because it's still better made and easier to use than most of the stuff on the market today

Don’t use Dave number plate and lights obscured 6 points and £200 fine
