I've been using the Kuat version on my Promaster (sprinter van). Works great too.

I have the Kuat Pivot V2, and it works great. It will work with a four bike rack (NV 2.0 and 2 bike add on) and opens up to 120 degrees. It’s really nice being able to swing the bikes out and access the cargo area on ac trip.

Wondering if I can use my aluminum cargo carrier? Local fellow has one he’s not using and I don’t plan to buy a bike.

Hi Clint - I would like to use the Swing arm on a Ford F150 with a tailgate. Between the top of the hitch arm and the bottom of the tailgate(when opened) is about 8 inches. Was wondering if that is enough clearance as I see a "hump" extended upward from the swing arm and obviously I need to be able to open the tailgate. Thanks Jay

The real "must have" use case for this is for Jeeps and Broncos with the spare tire. Very frustrating that it pivots on the passengers side (same way the tailgate door opens for Jeeps and Broncos) and I am not exactly sure it will fit. Why did they do that? I have heard some people install it upside down. But I am not comfortable doing that. I really want the MHS modular, but I am sure this setup will work with my Bronco. 😐

thanks for this review as well as the other Saris MTR reviews. Had a quick question for you. On the MHS rack, it looks like the clamps for the tire size have a handle now instead of using an allen wrench like on the MTR. Does that bolt with the handle work in the MTR? All the bikes in my house are 27.5 or 29 so I won't need to adjust it ever, but I was curious. That sounded like a complaint you had about the MTR.

I am curious if the rack has enough clearance not to hit the car parked next to you in the parking lot when you swing out.

Haven’t tried that but if it was a tight parking spot it would!

Clint, do you have any insight as to why Yakima stopped making the Dr. Tray? Seems like a stellar lightweight rack, I’m surprised it was discontinued.

I really don’t.

Why only 2 bikes? Their website only list a weight restriction.
@ClintGibbs2 жыл бұрын
Under Specs and Rack Compatibility it lists the racks, most of which are 2 bike racks.

Thanks Clint. You probably would not know directly but may have opinion. Think it will work with a 3 bike Kuat Transfer?

Clint…..have you ever used this with your Velocirax?
@ClintGibbs11 ай бұрын
I have not. I’d have to do some weight calculations first.

@@ClintGibbs I have the saris swing out on my GX470 which has a rear door and a Kuat 2 bike rack. Im sold on the Alta Racks. According to my math with an Alta Racks 5 bike rack is 79 lbs plus five 30 lbs bikes=229 lbs coupled with a stated Saris 250lb capacity. Of course I’m not looking to have the swing out arm open and fully loaded at the same time. Numbers wise it seems doable.

How shaky is it on rougher roads?
@ClintGibbs2 жыл бұрын
The swing away itself is extremely solid. The only reason you might get a little more bounce on rougher roads, which by the way I haven’t tried yet, is that the rack just sticks out a little bit further and you have more leverage. But I don’t think it’s anything to be concerned about.

Well Clint, once again you have cost me $. Thanks! Have a good 4th riding with your beloved!

Probably pushing the limits here but based on what you said during the opening a velocirax with 4 bikes would work but what are your thoughts?? Thanks!!
@ClintGibbs2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, the Velocirax is a fairly heavy rack. I would probably reach out to Saris to get their opinion on it. But you’re right, it could work if you did not put E bikes on it.

Looks sketchy. Hit the right sequence of bumps and you can launch your bikes into outer space!

Can i have it please if u dont really need it? Please? Seriously .... thank you

Too far away! That causes rattles, unnecessary movement of the bikes and generally excess rear weight dur to the fulcrum. There are better system out there.
