That is awesome. Thank you for sharing this experiment. I made a rock garden in a large bowl of water with large pumice rocks, and I’m planning to plant a S. psittacina in one of the rocks that sits lower in the water than the other planting holes. This reassures me that it’ll do great there!!

Very cool! I’ve always wondered how long a Sarracenia could last under water and I guess now I know.

Yeah you are definitely right, psittacina is probably the most water loving species and this may not work as well for something like rubra or flava. Still cool to see though.

extremely interesting. I love crazy plant experiments.

the pitcher plant grew very attractive coming out of the water like that.

5:42, the light could play a role as to why the plant grew really tall. Now growing this in full sun seems unrealistic, but I’m willing to bet that it will yield different results.

KenReySensei C: I mean, I guess I can get a waterproof extension cord going. It’s just with all the other stuff I do it’s hard to summon enough motivation to care about doing this a second time.

So basically you can't overwater these?

Can these be grown year round indoors?

with strong lights, yes

That’s really cool, did the pitchers continue growing tall after you removed it from the tank?
@TheBonsaiJungle3 жыл бұрын
It did not have enough time to send out new growth after I took it out, but I would say there almost a 100% chance the growth will go back to normal once the sun exposure is normal again.

Will S. Scarlet belle do too? Because they're a breed of S. Psittacina and Oreophila i think?

Where do you get the long fiber sphagnum moss in bulk? I have a hell of a time finding it. Also in the Chicago area.
