Do you water your bonsai in the winter while there in the garage ?
@TheBonsaiJungle
@TheBonsaiJungle 5 сағат бұрын
@@2001lemonlime yes, approximately once every week. Full soak until water runs out the bottom, making sure the entire root ball is soaked.

Nice video. What I've done is to let my macroalgae grow like crazy in a 20 high. There is also a sponge filter and a small 50gph pump. Also, some live rock. I also have some saltwater acclimated Sailfin Mollies. I've never see them eat the fry, but I have seen them chase them a little bit. That all said, my 20 is so filled with macroalgae, the fish are not always visible.

@@johnatella8498 same. I’m usually lazy/busy enough that my macro algae grows to fill almost the entire space before I put aside time to remove most of it. Usually I notice it gets so large that the coralline is getting shaded out on the rocks. I have a 50 gal now with two mandarins and still plenty of amphipods running around so maybe letting everything grow “wild” every now and again helps maintain them.

Great advice! Here in NJ I just put em in the garage. They get a few hours of indirect light through a narrow window but really it's mostly dark from Nov to April. I top-water the traps throughout the winter and spring and they bounce right back!

Tad bit random, but what happened to the carnivorous plants? Used to watch this channel in 2018 just casually. Miss those days.

Great video bro, this is exactly the routine I was planning on doing. I got a bonsai a week ago after failing with my first one a few years back and I keep her outside, she's not in full direct sun but gets good early to noon sun so hopefully that'll do and help her grow. I've been using a spray bottle to water her daily until the water comes out of the bottom. Yesterday I added some fertilizer pellets to the top too so hopefully she grows big!

I live in Ohio where it’s 40 degrees for a few days in November, Then 70 degrees the following week, then -20 degrees for most of the winter. So would it work if I kept them in a mini fridge for consistent temp?

Here in southwestern UK Lymnaea stagnalis are in almost every pond and river. They get to their maximum size in larger bodies of water but in small ponds they never attain a large size. They're always nice to see.

Are they considered invasive where they are found here in the USA?
@TheBonsaiJungle
@TheBonsaiJungle 5 ай бұрын
Depends on who you ask. Legalistic boot kissers would say yes, But I personally consider them a gift from God for being able to find one of my favorite species locally, so the term “invasive” essentially is pretty much equivalent to gobbledygook babble invented by environmental scientists to justify their worthless college diplomas. I used to make up a bunch of bullshit in my statements asking for funding for biological research when I worked in a zoology lab. I would proclaim its valuable to study even the smallest species to be able to assess the environment as a whole, and support food chains and all that. Really anything I could pull out of my hind end. At the end of the day Species migrate, climates change, continents drift…hell, even all humans are invasive outside of African if one is to believe in the theory of evolution. Basically brother just read your Bible and let all the snails run wild across the USA. Jesus Christ is coming back soon so nothing really matters except for repenting for your sins and reading the Bible. Just sit back and enjoy the ride brother. That’s the true punk rock attitude 🤘🏻
