I watched this production on DVD in my Broadway 101 class in 7th grade, and I had this song stuck in my head for about a month afterwards.😂 Also, if I was the guy on the ladder in the beginning of the song, I would've been so scared! But seriously, respect Jimmy Johnston's rope skills. (And his dancing skills!) :)

Such beauty and talent all through. From the choreography, , singing, acting, costumes, stage props, scenery, coordination, acrobatics and sheer joy electrified through the cast in this piece. Rarely can I say that a production of Oklahoma can hold a candle to the original 1955 Cinema musical. This runs very close indeed. Excellent.👍🌽🌷🌞

I grew up in the same street as Jimmy Johnston. Everybody knew he was destined for the stage from childhood.

The movie has just ruined me. I enjoy watching different actors and different scenes, though. They’re amazing and look like they’re having the time of their lives! This Will and Aunt Eller are so great. Uuuummm okay this whole version is insane and better than the movie.

Brilliant. They must have had great language coaches. I am an Oklahoman and I vouch for the Oklahoma Folks Speech. Dame Maureen Lipman sounds so proper British in real life, but here she is an Okie!

it always surprises me to see the broadway sets so dark and brown and sad. Northeast Oklahoma (where Claremore is located) is in the part of the state they call Green Country- because its very fertile and green (lush)most of the year. Defiantly not brown and dusty like these sets. I enjoyed this version nonetheless.
@bigred84324 жыл бұрын
You visited the area at the turn of the century too?
@jochenstossberg5427 Жыл бұрын
The dreary minimalistic sets are not from a Broadway production. This is a n English production. Johnny Johnston is terrific though.
@multilingual972 Жыл бұрын
I am from Tulsa, OK the big city in NE Oklahoma. It is definitely Green Country as seen in the film. But I am more interested in than the dancing and the sets.
O, we MAKE time for this here Kansas City .. or find it, somehow!

Sorry, but he's just not Gene Nelosn.
@MatthewNY944 жыл бұрын
He isn't trying to be Gene Nelson. This version of Will is completely different than Nelson's. Actors put their own spin on a character; they should never try to copy another actor before them.
@jochenstossberg5427 Жыл бұрын
The choreography is entirely different to the film so it's hard to compare. And the music has been adapted differently too. He's good though, and charming. And his rope spinning is wonderful. But Gene was sexier.
